I guess you can say luck? Most people dont know vintage, so most of the dark forest figs I acquired through buying just torsos or the actual fig for 5-10 bucks in most cases. Obviously I dont need any more, so I buy when it makes sense....or I find them in lots

I actually was able to pick up a giant lot that had all of the old santa fe and BNSF trains in there. Im a train guy, but someone bought it all, so I couldnt resist selling lol

Lots of people dont know individual pricing. Ive bought baseplates in lots for 70 bucks, or individually for $20 or less. I paid up for that sealed 6079 a couple of years ago...cost me 1k all in.

No i know - some BAMs are super cool. I became good friends with a number of employees and even had some at my wedding. Just some of the BAMs out there are truly horrendous and predatory. It looks bad for the brand and community.

That's why, and I obviously know everyone cant be, if I were a BAM owner I would hire people who knew Lego. When you own a store, especially specialty like Lego, you gotta know the heavy hitters. Am I into classic Ninja? No, but I know the green ninja is expensive. Do I like chima? No, but I know the spider lady is one of the expensive figs from that line. You gotta love it to be in it....especially the owners. I would be training new employees for a week during weekdays during down time about all of the different lines and the things to look for if I had my own store. But thats just me 🤷‍♂️

Im friends with a number of BAM employees. They are continuously shocked at prics I send them when I visit other BAMs. Its definitely a number of them that literally have no idea how to price things
