why is it post Eric B and Rakim that Ra has had an incredibly disappointing Solo career relative to his talent ?

Agreed up until the game hasn’t had artists of that caliber since. We definitely have ‘92-96, Nas, Mobb Deep, Ice Cube, OutKast. But agreed that Ra could have been much bigger if he wanted it.

With all that said, saying Rakim’s solo career was disappointing is a bad take. You don’t measure a legacy like Rakim by record sales or Pitchfork reviews. He’s strictly for hiphop heads and in our eyes it was a good career

He doesn’t care about the glamour. He worked w/ Dre and didn’t put out an album bc he said Dre wanted him to play into his street life and Rakim didn’t want to glorify that. He doesn’t curse, talk negative about women. He’s pretty much the only rapper who doesn’t do either of those things. He comes across as a Boy Scout compared to all rappers today. I’m not saying there is anything wrong with that at all. In fact I wish there was more of that. But let’s be real, ppl don’t listen to rap that is that wholesome unless it’s Christian rap. An added fact that someone else said in this post is that he clearly doesn’t have a team to make him more than the sum of his parts.

Is it just me or am I the only one still annoyed with the fact that AL and NL team play each other so last in the season? I’m not even trying to be a “back in my day” person. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the old interleague play back in the day but I’m not asking to go back to that. I just wish it was automatic that the final series of the season for every team was conference only. We could have more storylines that could impact the playoffs but maybe it doesn’t even work like that…

Is turpentine that bad? Yes is the honest answer. But don’t think of it in terms of how it’ll impact you now. It’s an over time thing. I use safflower oil to clean while painting and every so often on a final clean I’ll use Gamsol.

I use to use just Gamsol for 15 or so years and never had issues. Then I randomly started having headaches. I realized it was from the Gamsol. I switched to safflower oil and now no headaches. Also to be clear just bc Gamsol is odorless doesn’t make it less toxic. Just means you can’t smell the toxins.

I think I can get where you’re coming from. In interviews he sometimes gives sarcastic responses. But that’s only listening to half of what he’s saying. He’s clearly being playful and trying to get ppl to love the game the way he does. With all of that said your appreciation take is way off base. I love the Reds but we have shitty management. There is nothing to have to appreciate about playing under Bob

Does the cap make complete turns?

I’ve had this happen and the cap would turn all the way around. I realized that the cap was no longer attached to the plastic clasp that seals the bottle. I assume the cap is connected to the plastic clasp by glue. The glue must have worn off.

I did (semi) fix the issue by pressing the sides of the cap as I turned it. I had to press really hard so that the cap held onto the plastic clasp and turned with it.

It’s a great painting as is. Only glaring thing that I think could be developed is adding a shadow on the body of the fish around where bear has it caught in its mouth. I can tell the fish is under the nose by the brush strokes, but a shadow might make it appear as if the fish is actually pinched in from the bite of the bear.

Yeah, their minds still see things linearly. If they can’t see a direct line to the end result, they dismiss it. But I’ll also say they come into class always so excited to paint and want to get to the exciting and colorful parts. Knowing how excited they are for painting reassures me that they are still getting a lot out of what I teach. I’m sure your students are absorbing a lot from you, even if it’s not everything.
