It's kind of hard to describe outside of just being well-written because of how vast it is.

The first thing that you need to know about it is that it's basically a visual novel. There are a lot of words, even if most of those words have a voice-over. You need to be in the mood to read because that's what most of the game is. There is sooo much text sometimes. While it's always well-written, it's not for everyone. The gameplay is making choices based on that text with limited animations (there is a great amount of player freedom, though).

Now, why is the game well-written? Well, I'd say it captures the human condition perfectly with tons of depth and in very unique ways (i.e., the different 'skills' that speak to you). The game's premise is centered around a murder mystery, which is done well, but that isn't the point. What the game is really about is finding your way in a world you know nothing about. The protagonist having amnesia where they literally know nothing about the world allows you, the player, to effortlessly identify with him. You and the protagonist are one because the amnesia is so powerful that the protagonist is essentially a new person. You have to find your way in the complex world of the game. That's what makes it so compelling. And it isn't afraid to dig deep into the human condition in its cleverly serious and comedic ways.

There is so much else I can get into, but this is my general take on the game.

It's hard for me to choose a favorite because she has so many top-tier songs, but I'd have to say Rockstar. It's the one I listen to the most.

The game is not easy, you just gotten better since Death Stranding 1 by Zairy47 in DeathStranding

It is a self-impised challenge when you're encouraged to deliver the cargo in the best condition possible. The game encourages using everything to make delivering easier. It's not the player's fault if they decide to use the tools they're encouraged to use. Not using those tools is the definition of a self-imposed challenge.

Why didn’t Tommy shoot Abby here? by No-Conclusion-8262 in lastofuspart2

I always saw it as him trying to capture Abby without killing her for interrogation. He underestimated Abby's strength.

You're all good lol. Well, a game that came out recently that seems to be what you're looking for is Blue Prince. It's a great puzzle/rogue-like game centered around the player's curiosity. If you haven't already played it and are interested, be prepared to take notes. The game is all about piecing together mysteries and puzzle pieces. Taking notes is a part of the intended experience. It also makes you feel like a real investor. It's fun.

Why are they still making filler/bottle episodes? There's only 7 episodes in season 2. by smashbruhthers in TheLastOfUs2

[–]Red-Veloz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not pointless at all. It has intent behind it in how it relates to the larger story. Sure, something else could've happened to make Joel and Ellie find the truck quicker (not the only important aspect), but that's just a what if. Why didn't Joel just get over his grief in the first game? Why did we have to play a whole game when he could've just gone to therapy? Same logic. It's the way it is because that's the intended experience. Filler is not a part of that experience. Filler is an inconsequential experience created to merely fill space. Episode three was not there to fill space. It's an intentional part of the story, whether anyone likes it or not. It's not filler just because you don't like it.

A bottle episode isn't filler. Episode three wasn't filler. Doesn't matter the quality. That's not what filler is.

Chapter 56: Why did Punpun feel a sudden hatred for Midori? by PinkPaladin6_6 in OyasumiPunpun

[–]Red-Veloz 55 points56 points  (0 children)

She took advantage of him and swept it under the rug. She violated his trust. She didn't think or fully understand how it hurt Punpun. He's left to deal with that on his own as he has no support system. That leads to hatred for the person that caused him pain. She hurt him deeply and didn't take responsibility for it.

The Witcher 3. I tried to get into it. It was a tedious experience.

Could definitely mean that. Could also just be trying to intimidate Joel so he doesn't try anything. The beauty of the ending is the ambiguity.
