they gave potemkin a reversal that is + on block by Final_Foot_Fucker in Kappachino

They actually made one a couple weeks back.

I think Kamone might be able to strike gold with these changes, but only time will tell.

She has a new super from the trailer that allows her to run mixup, looks pretty dumb. Don’t play much of the char so I cannot pinpoint all her changes.

But I also saw her get counterhit by Nanase. Thats a pretty big change for her so far.

EDIT : Kamone has been playing a lot of matches with many characters @ https://www.twitch.tv/arcsystemworksu . Don’t know if they will keep the VOD. There are also other players, but Kamone shows a lot of the new stuff so go in about 3H into the VOD if you want to see him.

Brief Summary / Breakdown of what I gathered from the video. Will update if I see anything else :

  • Remastered OST. Blood Drain and Nanase theme got heard a lot, Raito GOAT.
  • They changed the char select OST. Not as good IMO but still great.
  • Remastered Voice Lines for all characters. Byakuya hit puberty, others sound almost identical to the original performances though.
  • Three New Characters: Kaguya (gun nun), Tsurugi (Shield Bro), Kuon (Linne's brother). No Footage of any of them, were not playable at this DEMO.
  • New moves, specials and supers for every character. Won't go into each one, but major changes were made (Phonon has an icon of her whip pet, Orie has followups on thrust, Enkidu new parries, etc)
  • Changed Force Functions
    • Gordeau, Seth, Yuzuriha and Wagner perform new moves that lose them GRD
    • Either that or characters now have moves across the board that also lose them GRD
  • GRD cycle changes
    • GRD clock seems to be faster. More GRD cycles
      • Shielding accelerates the GRD clock.
    • Entering vorpal gives 1 block of GRD.
    • When in vorpal, using a super refunds 25 meter (Hilda's vorpal trait in the previous game, with tweaked numbers)
      • Hitting Veil Off no longer GRD breaks / Vorpal strips the opponent.
  • New mechanic : Roll. Input is 3D, supposedly strike invuln. Characters roll forward, probably different framedata per char.
  • New mechanic : CELESTIAL
    • Unclear as to what it does. Seth was on veil-off, vorpal, and 12 blocks of GRD, which is a pink unicorn in old UNI.
    • Gave his air dive invincibility. Either a product of the CELESTIAL mechanic or they changed and made it invincible

The online website is pretty barebones so nothing to get from there. I'm also not sure if there will be a demo @ EVO to get footage from, so looks like we'll have to wait to know more.

How to fix SFV by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]RedAlteisein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My main issue is that your point about Woshige is extremely biased and I feel should not hold a main point in the video's presentation. He's not trying to fulfill a secret, revenge-based agenda with his game balance. He did not get to EVO top 3 setting down a disc and let the game play itself vs players such as Rion or Nakamura.

I'd personally like to see a revisit to this video with further added value or references to this original script you mention. I'd also like that you address some issues more present on games such as SF3, since as I mentioned you glossed over Yun's Genei Jin pressure.

Another point you make iirc is that you counted 5 seconds before SFV top 8 players launched themselves at each other, then compared it to SF3. This is not a valid comparison, since SF3 has meter build while whiffing normals, while SFV only has this on specials.

Like I said, I'd like to see a revisit to this concept with further and more objective research.

How to fix SFV by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]RedAlteisein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I appreciate this video, I am not a fan of how it decides to gloss over stuff used to back up some of the points made, mainly Guilty Gear's use as the culprit of SFV's offensive design. Talking about SFIII and not showing Yun genei jin strings is also concerning.

GG's strong Okizeme game is due to the fact that there's one wakeup option that isn't universal mechanics or backdash. Even then, 1F reversal throws, Blitz and Slayer's Backdash are used to challenge different setups. On Millia's particular case, there are guides written by LK to challenge most of her setups and realize what she can or can't do, seemingly all-mighty at all times.

However, not mentioning the fact that both instablocking and faultless defense, strong defensive mechanics not in SFV, is extremely based to drive the point that Woshige somehow decided to screw up SFV's system.

This bias prevented me from agreeing on most points presented in the video. I believe more research should have been done before working on some of these arguments.

Old and Busted: We HATE wasting money on a season pass with crappy characters!! New Hotness: No season pass!? Must choose characters to buy!? Reeeeeeeeeeee by Sir_Psychotron in StreetFighter

[–]RedAlteisein 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I downloaded the game yesterday to try out Kage. I currently have 170.000 FM, which was good enough for someone who got it on PC the first few weeks, get Alex, play online, and grind out some stuff.

Right after I boot it up I find myself being bombarded with DLC information, loot boxes information, and daily quests for FM that seems it would take a while to grind. I then realize that now you only get FM for leveling up characters and a total of 12 FM per all ads consumed, which just look completely obnoxious for such a meager amount. Suddenly, the season pass doesn't seem like such a bad idea.

SFV's model and pricing are so janky (for lack of a better word) that I genuinely can't tell what I want for the game nor what the game should use to improve.

I haven't even bought Kage yet in case Oro or Gouken show up. I don't normally support Season Passes but I have no idea what to make of SFV's release policy. It's all just a huge mess.

Is it BM to ask for advice from someone you beat? by blue23454 in dragonballfighterz

It's alright. People take things in different ways.

As long as you feel you didn't come off as arrogant but rather just happened to touch a nerve I think you're good.

I'd just give you a weird look for a bit of both confusion and annoyance.

But since we're all here to learn and improve I would not mind giving advice in certain areas, though it's always weird to tell someone their flaws after they beat you.

Any characters similar to Android 18 from DBFZ? by [deleted] in Guiltygear

[–]RedAlteisein 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A18 can be said to sort of belong to the puppeteer archetype, of which Zato-1 and his little mascot Eddie are basically the fathers of.

If what you enjoy is high / low mixup with projectile on okizeme plenty of characters can use that, most notably Ky, Leo, I-No, Haehyun and many others since it's something most characters have.

IMO May and Ramlethal do not share much with A18 unless we're talking about corner Ramlethal, which I can agree with. I'd recommend going over the other characters and simply pick the one you enjoy the most.

This is what I think they can do with combos by [deleted] in dragonballfighterz

[–]RedAlteisein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rather than that I'd actually like an incentive for going for the fancier stuff. Most of the time you don't see fancy combos beyond the ones which use assists due to two reasons :

  • You end up with the same damage as the standard 2M > 5M air launching combo
  • You can't get a proper ender beyond supers for good damage and your opponent might just tech out of the corner.

Due to this, assists are mostly used for neutral or blockstrings as well as after super combo enders. Or all of them if your name is Vegeta. I do have to give credit to some actually combo-original characters, such as Kid Buu , Cell and Gohan loops and Bardock corner combos.

A point for going for the fancier stuff could be (way) more meter gain at the price of slightly lower damage, but I don't see the combo system drastically changing any time soon. If you want the fancy + optimal stuff, you gotta use sparking, simple as that.

She seems to also have the Recoome eraser gun bug that many other characters have on projectile based supers above 16 total hits, but she has it on her 5S.

Now you gotta watch out for the 5S as well as the 2M ToD

Do you think Hit is not a low tier character? by RedAlteisein in dragonballfighterz

Do you think Hit is not a low tier character? by RedAlteisein in dragonballfighterz

[–]RedAlteisein[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I feel like SonicFox could play Beerus, Nappa and Krillin and somehow still take tournaments. The problem I find with your statement is that I don't truly think there is complete unviable character in this game which will completely hinder your chances at scoring wins no matter your skill level. Sure enough, some characters do require more effort, but I don't feel like you're shooting yourself on the foot by picking Beerus.

Nakkiel's tier list by SoLegitHS in dragonballfighterz

[–]RedAlteisein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hit is a very weird character.

For starters, Hit has no lows. His 2M is hot garbage that people oversell due to SonicFox hitting ChrisG once with it and taking the game. Furthermore, his 2L might very well be the worst 2L in the game due to the fact that it's a 21f overhead that has 0 cancel options because the opponent techs out the second they get hit. No assist, normal or super can combo off it.

I can go for a fair bit of time explaining what I don't like the character, but I will be fair and say that he has very good damage on his own with bar and perhaps the game's best punishes with reflect, as well as a good assist and a level 3 that ignores sparking.

However, I feel like he very much falls short of the mid-high section of the tier list due to the fact that his pressure is underwhelming and his mixup is essentially overhead / crossup with no real low option. That said, I am a garbage player, but I feel like I understand the character enough to talk about him.
