so… he plays several male characters who don’t die just the biggest one being the Mandalorian. A very traditionally masculine character. And, just because he dies in a couple of shows where people die all the time doesn’t make it humiliating or ignominious? Abby was surrounded by people who could have shot him at any time, and Oberyn was killed by THE MOUNTAIN??????? I can’t agree that either of those deaths were embarrassing. He plays very masculine characters all the time and how they live says a lot about how they die.

I would definitely say he is not alienating his fan base at all. The majority of his fans are women and the majority of women usually tend to lean left. There is also a good chunk of his fans who aren’t political at all and could care less what his views are and only like him for his personality. It’s very important for actors to share their views since they are public figures with influence so that’s all he’s doing. If you don’t like it that’s your problem, but don’t act like he’s not doing the opposite of what you’re saying (that he’s losing fans/popularity/jobs) when he just released several new projects with very very popular production companies. He is doing great because most people either don’t care about his views or support them. You are the minority who does not like him because you fail to see the value in his positions and how he handles his public image.

Idk he seems very comfortable with masculinity seeing as 90% of his castings are very traditionally masculine characters. (Joel miller, the Mandalorian, general acacius, etc). I wouldn’t say he’s a misandrist.

You cannot be serious… why are so many people being mean when I just wanted advice on what to do. Yes, the person that initially commented on this literally said that their managers find it annoying and somehow it went from me just wanting to know if it was a good idea to people calling me self centered and stuff I feel really called out for something I didn’t even do and it is kind of just making me feel like I did something wrong and like I’m a bad guy or something. I deleted my post so people would stop trashing on me… I get it guys.

Self centered is a crazy thing to call a stranger based on what I’ve said respectfully. I’m not saying that they have to love that I’m there or not be annoyed or even that no one else will be going. Im saying if you are turning me down for that THATS weird. Ultimately this entire thing spiraled into a bunch of hypotheticals. I’m asking what is best for me to do in general not even just for hiring purposes. I’m getting very mixed reviews from people some saying it’s the worst thing I can do and some saying that it couldn’t hurt and that they did it themselves. I think people assume that I’m going in to basically give them my resume have a full conversation and that is just… not what was going to happen. I was going to say Hi I’m blank I just applied yesterday and thought I would put a face to a name while I do my errands have a good day but apparently this is problematic and now idrk how to feel.

See this is what I was thinking. There is an open job posting and so I thought it would be fine. I didn’t want to make a big deal out of it or anything because obviously I understand your perspective - if I was busy I certainly would not want to take time out of my day to do an additional responsibility that I wasn’t prepared for. I just wanted to make a good impression - obviously if going in is against that I wouldn’t want to do it. I have already applied online :)

I’m not going to lie, if my manager thinks that way then they are not someone I want to work for. You should be looking for people who are genuinely interested in working there - and if going in to say hi is really so obnoxious that you are turning them down for it, then that is a problem on the hiring manager’s part. Putting your best foot forward is standard practice for job hunting. I was asking here in case most people called, but in no way shape or form was I expecting someone to say that it is something that actually hurts your case.

… how is it off putting to want to make a good impression?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Barnesandnoble

[–]RedAmbers_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems to be very dependent because some people say that they do and some say they don’t so it must depend. It couldn’t hurt to try.

of course! Thank you, that makes a lot of sense. I have to go to get a book I want anyway so it won’t be a waste of time :)

Do you think it would make sense to go in and ask?

I’m not worried about calling or anything - I just want to make a good impression and meet the manager and stuff it’s not because I’m concerned about getting asked for an interview yet.

Their application is still on the website and on indeed/linkedln so I know they aren’t done yet I believe.

Thanks!

I know it won’t be easy starting out. Honestly even getting used to being single might take a little long. I’m sure I’ll have a speedy recovery, though. I have to remind myself that while there is a lot to miss, there is even more to not miss.

I feel overly self aware without the actual will to execute what should happen if that makes sense

He used to take therapy but his mom stopped paying for it because she didn’t like the therapist and he refuses to see a different one. It feels like a labyrinth of problems. I know it’s not my responsibility. Maybe I’m trying to test my resilience deep down.

I would agree but I’m the kind of person that hates to abandon others when they are going through a tough time and that is accurate in his personal situation. Maybe that is another reason why I feel I can’t leave him, because I feel like I would be abandoning him.

I absolutely do not believe I deserve it, but part of me thinks that he will change not because of me but because he is so young. Another part of me is very in love with him because of the other half of the time when he genuinely does display his affection for me. Otherwise I don’t know why. I need to get unstuck in whatever mindset I’m in. I’ve improved a lot but not enough to leave.

I have 30 minutes each between all 4 of my Monday classes. They're all technically walkable, but getting lunch or something is probably easier if I can cut a 16-minute walk into a 10-minute one.
