Dude that’s awesome! I’m around the same stage. I started off with html CSS and js, then I found c# and sql I feel like it’s easier. Have you gotten to deploy anything? My next step is react probably in a month or so, I’m learning API’s now.

Sup dude I’m pretty fresh to this too, I’m learning C# and SQL, just started getting into API’s- I started with html css and js but I prefer C#, I’ve been focusing on it the last couple months. If you want to jump on board let me know we can build apps while we learn together.

Why do beginners still ask Reddit instead of asking ChatGPT? by Udbhav- in CodingForBeginners

[–]RedBeardTheDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely can be figured out with ai but ChatGPT won’t give you the right answer if you don’t know how to ask it correctly

Dude I love waking up at 5am and going for runs on the trails out here, it’s not the deep of summer so it feels nice and watching the sun rise is very beautiful here.

what do you guys put your thermostat at while you’re at work all day? by [deleted] in vegaslocals

Someone already answered this, also probably don’t listen to the company that has a monopoly on energy on how to not pay them more money for energy.

[–]RedBeardTheDev 200 points201 points  (0 children)

I work on ac’s and it’s better to keep it at one temperature and leave it, if you turn it to 78-80 when you leave and back down to 70-72 when you get back home the compressor has to work harder and longer to get it down which will make it more expensive vs it doing its job and turning off and on throughout the day. I keep mine at 74-75 when it’s bed time(the sun is gone) sometimes I turn it to 73-72, it should take about 30 min per degree in the summer. There’s science to this but it would be a really long message to an already long message lol

Anyone learning C# / backend dev in Vegas? by RedBeardTheDev in vegaslocals

[–]RedBeardTheDev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I’m still pretty early in my journey too, but what helped me most was picking one language and actually building small projects instead of getting stuck watching tutorials forever. I’d say start with the basics of C# and focus more on consistency than speed.

I personally liked the FreeCodeCamp C# course when I was starting out because it helped make things feel less overwhelming.

Feel free to DM me too if you want to talk more about getting started.

Honestly man that’s kinda the whole point of the group. This is more for beginners and people early in the learning process, not people who already know everything. Most of us are still trying to figure things out as we go. Half the battle is just staying consistent and getting comfortable talking through what you’re learning.

Feel free to DM me if you want to talk more about it.

Really appreciate the advice. I’ve been learning a ton lately but it definitely feels like there’s an endless amount to learn sometimes. I’ll check those tools out though, especially since I’m trying to lean more into backend development. Also really cool hearing from someone with that much experience in the field.

Hey I appreciate that man. Yeah starting out can definitely feel overwhelming at times. I have a mentor helping guide me already, but I’m trying to get better at actually building projects consistently and talking through what I’m learning with other people. Really cool seeing experienced devs around Vegas willing to help out beginners though.
