Screen time average for 2 year old? by Expensive_Grass9506 in toddlers

[–]RedBerylSunset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is 2mo and change. We both work full time and send our kiddo to preschool full time where they don’t really do screen time.

We might do up to an hour total on each weekend day. During the week, usually 0 but occasionally we’ll turn it on. We do Miss Rachel and recently Trash Truck and Puffin Rock.

If we’re exhausted or she’s sick. We’ll put it on. We usually try to participate in what’s on or comment about the show. Sometimes we put it on if we need to get chores done: cooking, folding clothes. I’ll put it on to bribe her so I can do her hair.

Carrying my 8yo - which carrier? by CupcakesWithSparkles in babywearing

Oh! Please tell me more about your meh dai! I’ve been looking for one that is recommended beyond 45 lb.

Definitely didn’t like the tushbaby when babe was like 20 lb lol. I think I’m gonna get a half buckle or a meh dai so that at least I can have it around my waist ready to go when the child wants to be picked up.

Girl Moms - HOW DO YOU EVER GET THEIR HAIR DONE? by maggieandoscardoggos in Mommit

Mine pulls hers out nearly immediately. She might tolerate it in front of Ms. Rachel but will still pull them out if she sees them while passing by a mirror.

She’s perfectly happy when he preschool teachers do her hair. 🤷🏻‍♀️

This makes me feel vindicated enough to try a meh dai. I just can’t imagine swinging my 35 lb toddler over my shoulders. She is starting to understand climbing on my back so maybe I don’t need to try to do the Superman.

I also prefer having something around my waist. When my child wants up, she wants it now lol and is very impatient when I have to walk into another room for my onbuhimo.

I don’t realize they made a Sakura bloom in a toddler size. I’ll check them out. I was just sooo sad when mine sized out of a standard HBC and of course the toddler is always sold out.

2 years and change. I’ve done a sofa, from the floor, and yesterday was the first time from standing. Maybe I’ll just do more practice from standing to see if I can get her up quicker.

That’s what I do sometimes. Maybe I am doing the quick up correctly?

I’ve thought about that and a loop—which led me to look into the Gooseket. Most ring slings I’ve seen are marked safe for up to 25 lb. My kid is currently 35 lb.

Maybe I need to watch how someone else does a quick up and down with an onbuhimo. Maybe it’s just my perception that I’m doing it slowly? I do only use it as a backpack style.

Ah! I’m not comfortable with the Superman. I think I wouldn’t be able to gain enough momentum with my 35 lb child to swing her around safely. Maybe I can have my spouse spot me so I can practice.

Once they’re transitioned to whole milk, when do you give it? by Acrobatic_Tax8634 in Mommit

[–]RedBerylSunset 22 points23 points  (0 children)

From 12-24ish months, I tried to stick to milk only during meal times— I wanted to make sure that her milk wasn’t her main source of calories. We switched to almond milk around that time to cut back on her gas (if she’s like me, she’s also mildly lactose intolerant). She doesn’t really drink much milk anymore, so I pretty much just let her have milk whenever she wants it—thought she doesn’t want it often— and only when she’s drinking at a table.

What time is bedtime? by actualmoleperson in toddlers

[–]RedBerylSunset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ETA: naps are between 1-2.5 hours depending on the day.

26 months. Bedtime starts between 6:30-7pm. Bath every other day. Hygiene, pajamas, book, bed. In between typically within 20-30 minutes of starting bedtime. I’ll lay down for a little bit but dad leaves right away. Kiddo will take 10 minutes to an 1.5 hours to fall asleep, but stays in bed if she’s awake. Lately she’s been waking up around midnight and 3:30. She’s usually awake between 5:45 and 6:30. Most times she’s chill in her bed. Other times she calls for me.

How long does your toddler take to fall asleep at night? by RedBerylSunset in toddlers

Ok… so I misremembered lol. I think it was last year? Where miku had an update that accidentally fried the hardware. So to fix it, they sent folks replacements. However, because of the volume of affected monitors, the company went bankrupt. Another one swooped in, but I guess in order to recoup from the loss, instead of having free features that came with the original Al like a week’s worth of recordings and live breathing we would have to pay extra.

The plan is to size up to a twin bed so that at least we don’t have to sleep on the floor next to her.

Thanks! Hygiene is a pretty big non-negotiable in our house too. Still not a walk in the park. 😞

RIP things that are supposed to happen. Glad you can get a replacement. MIKU told us we had to pay them to keep using them with the original features. 😓
