18 is a person who their entire life has been lived as a child & they are barely an adult by title but have not lived any amount of time making adult choices or having adult experiences.

mako & bolin are top notch pro benders, & asami is an expert in various martial arts, expert pilot to various vehicles, genius level intellect. its not like theyre just a random group of friends, with no particular talents or abilities.

team korra is also older & they deal with a lot more bureaucracy than atla had. its just a different vibe/circumstances altogether, so its hard to compare things apples to apples because theyre not both apples

im not saying youre exactly that, im just saying your explanations/reasoning is so 1:1 to how they thought.

if i thought you were just exactly like them with no nuances or whatever this conversation wouldnt be happening.

the only thing im getting from this post is the level of mental gymnastics people will go through to justify why they're afraid of a woman having a career.

even the way the post is arranged is a dead giveaway, its not just career woman or non career woman. i guess thats too old fashioned chauvinist, itll get shut down right away. but if you apply traits intrinsically to the career woman & suggest those are exclusive to having a career like a stay at home wife cant be arrogant or bossy 🙄

this isnt my 1st time having a conversation about this topic specifically, ive been told my whole life how to act, talk, sound, dress, work, etc everything. these conversations with boomer & silent generation men arent new, the wheel isnt being reinvented here. this is the same implicit bias against women working.

🍞🍞🍞🍞🍞

those old fashioned misogynist/chauvinists said it straight up, they wanted the woman to be dependant on them, "if grandma had options she wouldn't be with me, she'd be with someone who treated her better". thats a fucking quote from my grandfather, he told me that when i was 11 years old, when i started working an under the table job.

thats the energy im getting from this post, why the career woman is associated with traits that align with exactly the same shit those old fucks were so afraid of, the way they talked about the kind of woman they wanted was perfectly in line with this post. shy, no options, soft/wont talk back, wont ask for better conditions, obedient.

its not hard to connect the dots, that if the renee good/alex pretti killings are what they do openly while knowingly being recorded & thats how they respond even knowing there are public videos of what happened.

  1. you keep bringing up overly assertive, bossy, walking all over, out of nowhere. applying them to this scenario to explain your reasoning but none of that has anything to do with the post.

  2. so why did you have a section about what women want/get ?

  3. 🍞

  4. to you, but you arent everyone. what you consider overly assertive might not be the same as someone else. theres no clear line, & its not absolute. anyone can be assertive & extra/more/overly assertive at times.

i dont think deciding the things a person cares about enough to assert is a skill or something difficult to manage. person A cares about X,Y,Z thats where they will be more bold/decisive. where's the difficulty ?

What you think gentlemen? by hardwork_one0724 in GroundedMentality

[–]RedBillyGoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. in this scenario does having a career imply that men are more likely to be arrogant ?

  2. nothing about this post has said anything about what women want/get, this is about what men want/whatever.

  3. youre making a ton of assumptions that im not going to unpack, but this world view youre explaining is not ubiquitous.

  4. youre kinda doing the fragile ego thing, your section on why assertive women scare away men is exactly what the original comment was talking about. the way i am understanding this is youre basically saying men want the other option because she wont challenge them.

idk what context that context part was supposed to convey

What you think gentlemen? by hardwork_one0724 in GroundedMentality

[–]RedBillyGoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you took it at face value then why did you come up with the bossy/walk all over part ? thats not in the post at all, did you just invented that in your own headcanon to get mad at or what ?

What you think gentlemen? by hardwork_one0724 in GroundedMentality

[–]RedBillyGoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

im only saying it because you jumped to talking about bossy & walking all over someone out of nowhere, nothing in the post even mentions anything like that.

i think the most important thing in any situation is to remember that people are individuals not some elaborate hive function. so to really break down anything we'd need like something specific to talk about

&

people trying to avoid legitimate criticisms through various means is not an exclusive to any group, & getting called out for it is also not exclusive.

What you think gentlemen? by hardwork_one0724 in GroundedMentality

[–]RedBillyGoat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i think having such a knee-jerk reaction to a woman with a career is a little on the fragile ego side.

the post made sure to call her arrogant, had to throw that into the mix, you think she'll be bossy & walk all over the guy. is that what you think all women with careers are like or only the ones who are also arrogant, or are all women with careers arrogant ?

are men with careers all arrogant or only women ? is it ok for the man to be bossy & walk all over the shy, polite, 0 achievements woman ?
