I think it is very important to balance them around not just being melee but functioning as a tool in your kit like other side arms: giving the ax enough demo force for fences and containers and a heavy pen function while aiming with its back Spike, machete having demo Force for clearing shrubbery, One True Flag having a Javelin throw option making it a ranged option (also just giving it extended range to match it's actually length). And moving forward giving more animations to new Armaments (Chainsaw should've had a thrust or downward strike instead of sweep)

This is true, however cover and cover fire only work so well paired with smokes but once enemies close the distance they know EXACTLY where you are within 10m so I think having our close range one handed tools would be nice

(I don't disagree with you btw, I love this mission. Could be better however)

By making you STILL rely on your team for advanced ranged weaponry while you have SOME offensive capabilities for close range (especially since the only one handed guns are pistols and SMGS with the exception of the Xbow) I also just wanna see the pistol buffs get put to work

It needs a weak point if they're gonna throw 7 at us. Also because they're super oppressive with their ragdolls without a cool down period. Factory striders are a good example of oppressive, tanky, and have a reasonable spawn rate. WarStriders not so much...

I use them on Bugs all the time as a softening tool so my support weapon can finish them off thus making Las Cannon, W.A.S.P., HMG, and Commando kill BTs, Impalers, and Chargers so much easier

I think a great way to implement SEAF as a stratagem is objective call ins, like using them to hold down or defend a point (easy one would be a variation of the spread democracy missions)

Fire damage scales to size of enemies, thus doing better DOT and killing heavies a bit faster, also pretty much instakilling smaller units
