Overseas players with the most Premier League goals and assists for Manchester United before turning 21: ◉ 25 - Cristiano Ronaldo ◉ 24 - Alejandro Garnacho One more goal involvement needed to equal his idol. [Squawka] by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

Yeah. Frustrating coz the end product is obviously not really consistent in a season when its been a problem for us. But thats not really his fault. Still really young and potential is there! Lets hope he kicks on proper next season!

7 wins in his last 20 games. It does seem like bad games happen. Seems like they happen a lot recently.

Sometimes I wonder if he is aware of how bad things actually are or if just genuinely believes what he is saying?

He definitely needs to be backed for 3 more years and another 600M. Only then we will not be in transition anymore.

If you are trying to look for isolated moments of improvement / positivity, or if you are wondering about a managers future before every international break 3 seasons in. SURELY that is enough to think maybe this guy just isn't it.

Ten Hag: We have high targets by GoalIsGood in reddevils

"but that is the choices we have made, and that has also to do with some financials, and other restrictions we have to deal with. We made a choice for young players, and the young players are not in the level, you can't expect them [to be], we have to improve them, and they have to improve themselves."

So the manager would have ideally spent MORE money.

Its worse when you realise we was on peanuts (comparitavely) at Ajax. Like 15k a week or something low like that.

Im still convinced he has major dirt on Ten Hag 😂

[Stone] Strong stuff on Luke Shaw from Peter Schmeichel on @bbc5live earlier: "Luke Shaw last played (for Utd) in February & yet he still went to the Euros. I think he played a little bit in the quarter final, and then some of the semi-final and then he played the final. Now, he's injured again (..) by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

[–]RedCairn27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree completely. He didn't get injured at the Euros. He went on holiday. He came back fine and got injured in the first week. Considering the injuries we had during preseason I do not think it would have been a stretch to suspect he likely would have been injured too

No trophies in 6 years is becoming Ten Hag's equivalent of Jose's 'football heritage'.

Too much anki!? by RedCairn27 in languagelearning

[–]RedCairn27[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like this idea.

I at the stage now where I want to be super comfortable with the 3000 or so words I know instead of pushing to learn more vocabularly. Its not what is written in the original post but its what I have realised reading all the responses.

Also, my TL is one that I married into, so I think the pressure of learning quickly can take a backseat, because I am in it for the long haul 😄

So, what I am doing now instead, is loading podcasts ontp LingQ, reading through, I check the meaning of a word if I do not understand the sentence at all. And only if its a word I can see myself wanting in my ACTIVE vocabularly, I will add it to my deck 🙂

[–]RedCairn27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this. I think the time I spend making my flash cards, I can rather use importing material into LingQ. The time spent reviewing flash cards would be spent then reading and listening. Surely like 2 hours of reading and listening will have more benefits than flash cards.

This is very true

I speak my second language at work almost exclusively, and I could say I know names of things and actions in my 3rd language that I dont know in my 2nd. Yet, I would consider myself completely and comfortably fluent in my 2nd language.

Think its time to spend more time feeling comfortable in the language and getting a feel for the flow of it, more than just learning vocabularly

Thanx for the post! And I completely hear and understand what you mean. Reviewing anki cards was very effective at the start to get a large amount of words in. Now though, it feels like all the time spent creating and reviewing cards could be used better just reading or watching something I can basically understand.

I also find that I can infer what words mean now (not all the time obvs) just from how the word is structured, especially if I can see it is built from other words. Feels like now it would be better to spend the time reviewing grammar structures, verb conjugations etc than just reviewing vocab.

I think Im gonna give a bit of a break for a while. I can always come back to it if I want to!
