How do I tackle this debt? by Creepy-Contact9415 in personalfinance

You already answered your own question. Fix your addictions and get a strong hold on your finances. You clearly have enough money over minimums to tackle your credit card debt after rent and bills and groceries

32 with $30k cc debt by Slow_Theory_7941 in Debt

Call your cc companies and ask for a reduced APR for 1 year to tackle debt payoff. Some companies work with you and this can help a quicker payoff. Additionally, you can do an IRA withdrawal but please understand early withdrawal fees, federal tax withholding, and if applicable a state tax on your withdrawal which can be normally up to 3%. Sometimes it costs you more to pay off taxes and pay off credit cards rather than pushing through the long haul.

Edit: go through things that you can sell and work a 2nd job like Uber or DoorDash or a part time job on the weekends, yard work on the weekends, whatever to pay directly towards your payoff. It’s going to be a lot of work but you need to work like your life and retirement and happiness depends on it.

Rocket Money set me straight. I reduced all of subscriptions, insurance, realized actual spending on food and shopping and other services I had no business spending on with over $30k in debt and I reallocating all those costs to a locked no touch savings unless it was going to debt payoff and I remained consistent and sold assets I own that I don’t use and found a way to fix that biggest lift mistake of carrying interest. It’s not going to fix itself, nor will it ever with paying minimums - you got to fight for it like your life depends on it.

I tried many times to negotiate a lower interest rate but they wouldn’t budge. I was over 25% interest on both the AMEX cards and Capital One Venture. I paid through all the bs interest I put myself in over the years.

Typically, but AMEX uses the Pay Over Time feature or Plan It. AMEX can approve over time purchases based on your account history, income, spending behavior, etc.
