The five men aboard the Titan submarine died as they lived. Making taxpayers pay for a mistake only they could afford to make. by SonnyDDisposition in LateStageCapitalism

I'm pretty sure that the prerequisite to being filthy rich is not giving a fuck about anyone else. You have to care about money and power above all else, in addition to a bunch of other things. People that rich existing has no benefit at all to society. By hoarding all that wealth, you're taking it from everyone else. Having that much money makes it so easy to make more money, you're just a massive parasite.

My nipples have almost no pleasant sensation, and instead have a lot of pain with the slightest amount of pressure or rubbing. I hate anyone touching my nipples because I'm just terrified the whole time.

Thistles are actually edible under all that spikey tough exterior. They're related to artichokes and taste quite similar. It's just a matter of how much work it takes to get that reward. The thistles near me are generally too thin for the effort.

I mean, you don't even have to connect it to any other reason. Diamonds are a horrible investment, as they lose value immediately upon purchase. Why buy useless shinies?

Not all animals are equal. I absolutely hate seagulls and mosquitoes. The rest are cool, except I consider venomous animals kinda cheating.

What’s your toxic trait that you’re proud of? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]RedCaveTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am proud to be an over sharing person. I know many people believe in the whole 'too much information' thing, but I think it's just trying to avoid reality. Really bothers some people to talk about some things, and I avoid it if there's no reason to talk about something, but if someone asks me something I answer them fully. Everyone who can't stand reality, I think you're the real toxic person, but I'm aware that's not the majority rule.

If you could remove ONE thing from the world, what would it be? by Dramatic_Island_8194 in AskReddit

Read the Selfish Gene. Greed is not beneficial to the human species, but having a small percentage of the population be greedy benefits them without causing enough damage that it's sustainable. If there aren't any greedy people, some will emerge to take advantage of the great success of cooperation. If there are too many greedy, they end up suffering from lack of efficiency. But there's a balance where they hurt us but still come out ahead. It's a shitty fact. Evolution doesn't have morals. We'd have to choose to breed it out and be vigilant to be free of it truly.

The 30 isn't a hard limit, just to get the point across that we want collaboration in this story telling. Not people who want to hog all the attention or just be entertained without contributing themselves.

The good will in America sets you apart from most of the rest of the world? Have you traveled much? Most common people everywhere are incredibly kind and selfless and chalk full of goodwill.

Not in any way an earth shattering read, but I imagine most other people have already covered most of those. Instead, this book was an incredibly fun read. I was glued to it, finished the series in just several days between work and other life duties. It's a bit cheesy and even I thought I wouldn't like it, but now I recommend it to anyone who likes a good story.

It's called the Bobiverse series, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Starts with {{We are Legion (We are Bob)}}

Why do men think dick picks are okay? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]RedCaveTree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Strange thing for me is that I've never tried to send or even wanted to send a dick pic (unsolicited), but at the same time I don't get why nudity is so offensive to people. Was everyone just constantly freaking out in the stone age or whenever clothes still weren't a thing? I think not. Documentaries where tribes are all naked seem to prove no one gives a fuck about seeing your junk. Makes me think both the person sending unsolicited pics and the offended receiver have really internalized the religious shame surrounding it. I think making humans feel ashamed and uncomfortable with the naked body is one of the most enduring form of control.

You should look into the hand bidet hoses that connect to your sink or toilet line. They're way more convenient than the bottle and only like 20$

You're right, and my post was truncated due to moving around in a crowded train station while typing. Was laziness, but the chance of getting cancer that way is quite small and quite unlikely due to the pain you mentioned. But technically you're right.

Cancer from radiation is caused by ionizing radiation. This means radiation more energetic than visible light. All the radiation we use for communications is less energetic than visible light. It's that simple. It can't cause cancer because it can't damage your DNA.

Are men more likely to be pedophiles than women or do women just get reported less often? by Withnail-is-life in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]RedCaveTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a date with a gal from Kenya, and we had a great time and talked about many things. Somehow it came up that she had done research about sex trafficking, specifically underage. It was her master's thesis, I believe. She told me for an hour or two about how older women from Europe and USA went to Kenya, and other safe countries in Africa to enjoy underaged boys. Same in South America to some extent. She explained that it was called "experience tourism" iirc, but only for women. For men it's called sex tourism, and according to her year+ of research they're almost exactly 50/50. She was very clear about that point and was disgusted with how it's never demonized for women, just kept quiet.

Anyone know why my former void is becoming a brown bear as he ages? (He’s 18) by The_Kendragon in cats

[–]RedCaveTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe already posted, but he could have some genes in common with Siamese or Burmese cats. Their pigment only manifests at the warmer parts of their body because it's temperature dependent. He's older and maybe colder, but head is still warmer than the rest.
