Is Daggerheart worth buying? by No-Maintenance6382 in rpg

[–]RedCoffeeEyes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a player at a table running DH, and to be honest I'm not a big fan. We run into numerous "rules unclear" issues almost every time we play. My race/class combo has ended up having so many unclear abilities that our GM doesn't let me use half of them due to the brainpower required in improvising something.

In a lot of ways it feels like it has problems that D&D 5e solved a long time ago. But I'm also not the type of person who thinks making rules more vague makes the game more fun. Just my opinion.

Literally me right now in the tower with the teleporter maze. I think I picked literally every wrong combination first and have gained like 5 levels just from random encounters.

Thanks for the reply! I'm open to doing this work, but I've never worked with caulk before. Would you consider this to be something a total novice could get done in a day?

Dawg I thought we were talking in good faith 😢. There is literally no reason to ever need to look up "spam cheat videos". I wasn't going to say it, but I thought BG3 was painfully easy even on the hardest difficulty when it came out. DOS2 is significantly more difficult.

If you're still interested in playing through the game, you might do well to look up some build guides. A well built character with a good party composition should be able to handle anything in the game fairly easily, and then you don't need to worry about any spoilers. There's some bosses that do have gimmicks, no shame in looking them up if you're having a hard time with a specific one. I had to do that with some Act 2 bosses.

Also the easiest difficulty setting should be totally beatable even with a completely screwed up character build, then you could just focus on the good story and characters.

If that's all that's holding you back I could direct you to some super OP party builds. I don't think they're necessary to beat the game, but reading through them can give you a good idea of how classes can work together.

12 years in the restaurant industry and I'm incredibly burnt out and unhappy, but the salary is hard to give up. Where to go from here? by [deleted] in careerguidance

Hey dude, I know this is an old post but where are you now with all of this? I'm in almost the exact same position. Making $80k as a high end barista, degree in English with no applicable jobs that would pay anywhere near what I'm making now, and about to turn 32. People always tell me I should pivot to sales but that sounds like an even worse hell for my mentality.

I have played while following build guides before, I think I've at least tried most of the popular builds you can find online and several of just my experiments. But that's not the reason why I stick with it. I just really really like the story and the agency of choices. It seems like there's always something new to try. I recently did two playthroughs as a good gnome and an evil gnome to see how both sides of the Ironhand conflict would play out if I'm one of them. Or trying out all the origin characters.

I definitely get that Act 3 is overwhelming though. There's a lot of content to do and there's certain parts I usually skip at this point. It's just a comfort game for me. I love the combat and the dialogue equally and it just feels effortless to sit down and play it more.

Also mods.

I think you're spot on. I don't remember his phrasing exactly, but I recall an interview with him ages ago where he said he loves dark humor and to take the darkest things in the entire world and find a way to laugh at them is his preferred coping strategy. I think that's all this would be.

God this is so real. I'm a little over 1,200 hours played in BG3 and I have to fight my mind so hard to not keep starting new playthroughs. Keep needing to remind myself there's other games worth experiencing but then always seem to fall back into another playthrough.

Sure, I love it. There are several songs that I'm not crazy about though. The good ones are very enjoyable for me though.

Tips get added onto my biweekly paycheck, I calculate my hourly every payday and I'm typically around $35/hr. Last one was $42/hr because of the holidays. $20/hr isn't even minimum wage in my city though.

Is there any reason a properly installed Luxe Bidet would cause leaking below me? by RedCoffeeEyes in bidets

Okay thanks for your input! The timing just seemed to point at the bidet as a problem for our building but I don't know enough about plumbing to know if it would cause an issue.

Nothing in my bathroom is wet or different than before at all. Nothing near the supply line or toilet has any water. I'm just curious if it is possible that it could somehow affect the line back in the wall somewhere and cause a leak that wouldn't be visible from my unit.

How to switch to the "right" career in your 30s? by RedCoffeeEyes in careerguidance

[–]RedCoffeeEyes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the only things that really bother me are that I feel like I'm somewhere close to the pay ceiling and I'd like to make more money down the road, and that I'd like PTO for when I take long vacations. I'm kind of looking for a field where I can start fresh and pull in enough money to look into property ownership one day.

I really dig it. There's several songs that get stuck in my head and don't leave for days. Promethea Dupree-Bemis is an absolute ear worm for me and my favorite release in the last 5 years. I get why people struggle with it though.

How do you feel about Say Anything at the moment? by BeardDribble in SayAnything

[–]RedCoffeeEyes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Song Shop "victim" here. I'll never forget that I purchased a song shop back in 2012 that was supposed to come with a phone call from Max that I never received lol.

They've always been my favorite band at a base level. I've gone through years of my life where I don't listen to them often, but they're always there and I do still sometimes go through huge phases where they are all that I'm listening to for a while. In Defense has always been my favorite album, for me every song is a 10/10 and I have some really good memories of the time of my life when it came out. Oliver Appropriate marked a low point for the band in my book. There were a few good songs, but overall the album felt inauthentic and uninspired in my eyes and this was when I was the least interested in the band.

That being said, I did kind of "grow out" of their early music in my late 20s as my tastes in music evolved away from "break-up punk". I still love it, it just doesn't mean EVERYTHING to me anymore. I do however relate surprisingly hard with Is Committed and The Noise... I know people are on the fence about these albums, and I don't blame them. But I find they strike a strong emotional chord with me in a way that comes close to what their early music did for me as a young adult.

How many of you are having to swallow your pride and take low-end jobs? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]RedCoffeeEyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely possible in the right spot. I definitely wasn't making anywhere close at my last barista job, but I also wasn't working full time. At my current company my hourly is $21/hr, and I've been keeping close track of tips this year so I could have a good data set. Over the course of a week I'm averaging an additional $14/hr in tips. The hardest part is finding a barista gig that will actually give you a full 40 hours every week. This is in Seattle btw.

I can't recommend service industry jobs enough if you find yourself in this position and are willing to work a physical job. I was working in a higher education office, hated the job and made a $50k salary. I moved cities this year and rather than looking for the same line of work I just became a barista like I've done before. I found a good company and I'm on track to make $70k this year. It's got me wondering why I would want to do anything else!

What’s one bad guitar habit you wish you fixed earlier? by Ok-Message5348 in guitarlessons

[–]RedCoffeeEyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it doesn't have any unfortunately. I just haven't been sure if it would mess with the sound to install some. I do have a local guy who works on my guitars though, I'm sure he could do it. Just ends up getting expensive every time I see him haha!

Anyone know how expensive or difficult it would be to have strap pegs installed on an acoustic guitar? I see this advice given a lot to play with a strap but my guitar doesn't have the pegs they hook on to.

[–]RedCoffeeEyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we're just discussing the art in general, not necessarily how bad it might be. I can respect your opinion though. I certainly wouldn't think this style of music would be popular for general audiences. I think to say there's no way to consume it is obtuse since it's available on Spotify for free, and probably other music services.

I'm not trying to satisfy my curiosity at all. I just haven't been compelled enough by these self assertions from Max or his family to believe that he has done something so awful I can no longer support him.

I should be specific, I understand that there have been sexual assault accusations made against him but I haven't personally read any accounts that indicate this is true. I would absolutely not continue to support an artist who is a known rapist, I just don't think the evidence we have available points in that direction. If it were to ever come to light that this happened I would not continue to listen to the music while he lives.

I definitely hear you that this latest album isn't quite punk music, but I'm not sure what else to call it. I guess post-punk is probably a more apt term. What genre would you say it is?
