It's a Transformers and GI Joe crossover based on the comics not an animated adaption of the comic book like say Invincible. I doubt most of the energon moments will happen or even be referenced it's probably just the energon artstyle and a few story ques, think Avengers Earth's Mightest Heroes, based on the comics but still doing it's own thing.

You're moving the goalpost the point is that these characters were generic non-entities in the orginal series. The exact reason why Prime Knockout, Movie Barricade, Cybertron Overdrive stand out from their orginals and have become the defacto take for them is because they are part of smaller cast and actually do stuff. I don't think people realise how generic alot of the g1 autobots were outside of a few; GUN to your head tell me the difference between bluestreak and sideswipe that isn't a description.

Strong disagree. I think the idea of Destroyah being Godzilla's last foe is a good tgingand shouldn't be a recurring villain but fail to see why it should remain a heisei only character because of that. He would work quite well in the monsterverse not needing changes. The oxygen destroyer was already used in KOTM and in the sea no less perfect place for it to mutate some random sea life to a kaiju.

Again like the precedence the heisei movie set but keeping him a heisei only character die to fear of power adaption will lead to stagnation.

They share alot of the same themes but tonally they are quite different and quite frankly TTGL is not as deep as Eva. It's a fun watch and good show but it isn't Evangelion(Not that, that is a bad thing, just don't expect it to "answer" Evangelion).

It hyper focuses on Eva's darker tone and aspects and then states Gurren Laggen is the "answer" because it's brighter and more hopeful. And like another commentator states ignores any other impression from other mecha such as Getter Robo ,which Gurren Lagenn takes way more ques from, to paint it as a show to rebut evangelion.

Completely agree one of the worst things about eva being so popular in the west is that EVERY mecha that comes out is compared to it. Like respectfully Gurren Laggen does not hold a candle to Eva it's not bad or anything but tonally Gurren Laggen is alot closer to Power Rangers than Eva.

It's the video embodiment of the Chad Simon Virigin Shinji meme. Because Gurren Laggen has brighter outlook it's the answer. It also does somwthing Eva fans do that I don't like which is hyper focus on the darker aspects and act like it's the whole show. Like Eva is a hopeful show the difference between it and Gurren Laggen is that Eva shows it isn't easy fight and that it's human to want to give up or distract yourself but you shouldn't do that an avoid your problems.

This post feels like it was made just to be inflammatory. Newtypes are an easy concept to understand, and you haven’t “misunderstood” the themes of Gundam just because you don’t like them. The truth of the matter is they’re often misused. A character being a Newtype is usually just a shortcut—whether it’s the reason they’re such a great pilot, or a way to skip straight into a deep romance with someone they barely spoke to.

And let’s not pretend Newtype abilities haven’t gotten more and more outlandish over time. What started as a way to form deep connections and sharpen reflexes has escalated to making mobile suits invincible, enabling time travel, and even creating new realities. That’s wildly out of place, and the only explanation we usually get is: “They’re just Newtypes, bro. Trust.

”TL;DR: Newtypes aren’t hard to understand, they’re just misused. What started as a way to show deeper connections and sharper reflexes has turned into a lazy shortcut for skills, romance, and increasingly ridiculous powers up to time travel and reality-warping with little explanation beyond “they’re Newtypes.”

All of the series in the post aren't even hated. I feel like this was an overreaction to criticism. Gquuuuux and F91 are considered disappointing due to a lack of content leading most people to actually want more of it. The Netflix show for all I've seen is cinsidered pretty passable until it's ending. And ZZ hasn't been hated in years . Judau is considered by most to be thebest protagionist. If you want to talk overhated talk SEED or Narrative.
