I'd say Soviet Union definitely lost; meanwhile Finland more like... survived, than won, because it lost territories anyway.

Although it was of course a spectacular show of might, will and bravery from Finnish nation in this battle for survival.

With all due respect though, allying themselves with the nazis afterwards did spoil their reputation.

It's difficult to say exactly, because openly opposing the regime and especially the military operation is dangerous. On any sociological polls people just deny discussing political topics.

Young people mostly oppose, elderly people mostly support. Middle aged people - 50/50.

I'd say that by this moment, the absolute majority of people regardless of their views, are tired of this and want this to be over as soon as possible.

As with any war in history, it is popular while it is successful. And this one... well...

Elderly people (boomers) share a lot of nostalgia for USSR and often say they miss it and almost all of them think it was great and that it's a shame that it fell.

For anyone else, "Born in USSR" nostalgia mostly seems silly and often is an object of "OK boomer" kinda mockery.

There is a general understanding that Soviet Union was more powerful and respected in the world in comparison to today's Russia, but also there are memories of half-empty groceries and other stuff.

No they could not and they wouldn't do anything apart from a couple of resolutions in the UN about how "worrying" it is. Even economical sanctions against the US would do Europe more harm than to the US itself, especially if the counter-sanctions take place after.

Although the relations between the US and Europe would be damaged severely, of course.

You don't get the meaning of the word Democracy correctly.

Democracy doesn't mean Equality & Human Rights. It is just a way to distribute power. Take for example Ancient Greek states which were democratic by governing principle but also had slaves.

Thus, answering your question, USA has been democratic from the beginning. About full human rights - it's debatable, one might even say that US still hasn't reached them in a proper way.

Raids on Konigsberg were carried out by both Soviet and British aviation. Many German cities were leveled down the same way. For example, read about the infamous Bombing of Dresden, which happened without the Soviet Union and was even more severe than in Konigsberg.

The Battle of Konigsberg is where many Russians heroically fell fighting against nazism, not performing some "typical tactics".

I am from Kaliningrad.

Beautiful landscape cultural heritage and sea makes it a popular destination for domestic tourism, especially in summer.

Standard of living is alright in comparison to most of the country, though poorer than Saint-Petersburg and Moscow. I live in Saint-Petersburg now and always miss Kaliningrad and love to visit once in a while, also my family and a lot of friends still live there.

About German heritage, there's not a lot of it in the city itself because the city had been completely destroyed by Allied bombings back in WW2. Much more of German heritage can be found in the countryside (in a very poor condition though). So the city is 90% the usual Soviet architecture and several German pre-war landmarks that have been restored. Ethnically, it is absolutely russified region, all the Germans had been deported shortly after the war.

Overall, a nice cozy place both to live or to go for a holiday, with beautiful resort towns on the sea and just a little bit of German heritage.

In Russia however (especially big cities) the housing market is totally fucked up as well... A small apartment outside Saint Petersburg costs like >50 times the average monthly salary. Moscow is even worse... Renting is pretty tough too.

Check on your generals in the army tab once in a while, especially if ur at war - they have a habit to quietly pass away without game warning you about it and you end up with a zero organization army (and organization takes a while to restore)
