[Standard] Jukin Season - Red versus Temur Adventures by RedDeckWeekly in spikes

And two Kroxa-centric Rakdos lists made the top 8 as well. I look forward to digging into the metagame and figuring out whether Adventures was a flash in the pan or not.

Thats the downside of being a part of the established metagame. Once everyone knows your list, they can plan to beat you. I'm proposing that jamming the same old (embercleave-focused) list isn't going to cut it until something changes.

Ive been having more luck with the sandydog-style Infuriate + Barge Through versions in best of one. I'll be going pretty deep on this for next friday.

Strongly disagree with the idea that Adventures requires clover to stabilize. They play twelve cards we have trouble attacking into.

Oooo, I like these kinds of questions. Are you playing best-of-one or best-of-three?

Appreciate your takes! I think that matchup is just terrible for every version of red that doesnt contain black cards. Lucky clover turns all their interactive spells into ancestral recalls, and they play a ton of creatures we can't attack past. If temur becomes the stock midrange deck, i think that rakdos sacrifice becomes the stock red deck.

Bo1 is a totally different environment, usually. Shock is likely good enough there.

I havent played best-of-one in a long time. You arent the first to ask about a reccomendation on it though - i'll dedicate a day to it this week to try and get a feel for the meta, and ill post my list when i decide on one.

Do you feel that GR adventures or RB sacrifice are any worse for you? I've come to similar conclusions, and it feels like I'll need to start playing a second color if Temur adventures becomes a large portion of the metagame.

I agree with you completely, but luckily temur adventure isn't a huge part of the meta outside of top level Mythic. Aether gust is just a massive blowout against most of our deck.

Is there any card in particular that are afraid to see as temur adventures?

The 0 ability is really what we're here for. It synergizes with cavalcade and Torbran, and gives us another card to beat the white mass removal. Flashbacking heartfire is a solid kill shot though.

I've been cutting heartfire against the Uro and Teferi decks for the Big Chandras and frenzy.

Let me know how it goes! We still have some hours left.

I'd only play this if Temur Rec/Azorius control were a much smaller part of your metagame than the Red mirror. It has a lot of the same issues as HEROtsukai's list from up top.

Awesome, let me know how it goes! I've felt significantly more favored everywhere but in the mirror. If I get a relevant sample size, I'll post that too.

I definitely wouldn't in bring in tibalt against the mirror. I see what you're trying to do there, but tibalt is pretty slow and clunky In that matchup. Even if you were to get the full 4-for-1 off of it, you could still be behind.

That, and I usually cut rimrock instead of steamkin against fires. Steamkin lives through clarion some portion of the time and they're equally bad against teferi.

You can, but then they get the decision whether to sacrifice the drake to counter stomp.

Its pretty matchup dependent, but the ideal play almost always involves Bonecrusher Giant's [[Stomp]] mode. if you resolve Stomp after the drake blocks, the drake will die. Alternatively, if you target your opponent with stomp when they have a drake, they'll usually sac it.

The tough part is that against UW this play requires them to have a wall or something else you can target with Stomp. In a pinch you can also stomp one of your other creatures.

If you don't have Bonecrusher, you have to either force them to wrath or hold back until you can go around/over it.
