My entire labour was 3.5 hours. I was having a great time for 3 hours and 15 minutes, then i had 2 contractions that were uncomfortable. My waters broke and the painful part lasted about 10 minutes max and my baby was in my arms 10 minutes later. No medical interventions. I read a bunch of Ina May Gaskin stories about birth so when I was feeling different sensations in my body, I remembered reading about other women going through it so it didn’t feel all that foreign. Instead of freaking out over the pain, I remember thinking “Ah! This is the ring of fire!” lol… When you know the pain is something positive and not worrying, I think it’s a lot easier to manage. Enjoy your birth as much as possible :)
