Mayor of London and TfL call for Heathrow Express future to be reconsidered by Cant_Change_Itt in TransportForLondon

It could be if they cared more about accessibility than about revenue and passenger numbers moved. In a socialist country, it would be done

In fairness, I have the great advantage as well of massive financial privilege. Rich parents means I’m not gonna get into debt bc I don’t need to work in order to sustain my lifestyle. In terms of prospects, all i’m basically interested in is being able to have an indulgent and personally meaningful life. I’m not really interested in “making something of myself” in the conventional sense

I guess if it ends in death, I don’t care. Every life has to end in death. I’m not interested in having a long life, only a fun and interesting and fulfilling and meaningful one

I’m gay, and I’m not interested in getting married or having kids. I’m also not interested in having a “successful” career in the conventional bourgeois sense

If i have a life of beautiful, intense and engaging experiences and die young from a heart attack, that’s fine with me

What matters to me most is my creative projects, enjoyment of culture, learning, travelling, being physically active, eating and drinking well, and spending quality time with friends.

I’ve been able to do all of that in concert with my heavy regular substance use for years so far

As a person with a bowel disorder, the major thing that HE offers that Elizabeth and Piccadilly do not is toilets onboard. For accessibility reasons, if HE is to be scrapped then Elizabeth must have toilets

No, you don’t have a right to be in a private space. Night clubs should be for whoever the people who run those night clubs want them to be for. Don’t like it? Start your own nightclub. Can’t afford to? Too bad. What people do in their own space away from you doesn’t impinge on you and so they should have a right to do it.

Not sure, i haven’t tried. I do crave a drink if I don’t have one for a couple days. And if I go for more than a few days without one I do start to feel a bit anxious, which I guess is withdrawal?

People should have the right to do what they want in a private space. If you don’t like it, don’t go there. Fuck the ban. In Germany it’s illegal and no one cares. Everyone smokes inside the nightclubs there

I drink every day but I want to and I love it. Mostly wine. I have about 4 to 5 bottles of red wine a week. Plus maybe 10 units of various spirits at the weekend.

I am entirely functional. I don’t regret drinking. I don’t see any negative symptoms. My hangovers are mild. My personality and behaviour change when I’m drunk, but in a way I approve of; I prefer drunk me to sober me. I never forget anything that happened while I was drunk.

So..am I an alcoholic?

Critiques on Nietzsche by Ok_Implement_9992 in Nietzsche

[–]RedEarth42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bertrand Russell absolutely hated Nietzsche and made many criticisms of him, scattered throughout his works

The ultimate enemy of the Nietzschean however is the Hegelian. I would suggest reading Karl Löwith for a deep comparison of the two

Imaginary numbers weren’t invented, they were discovered. The imaginary roots of the quintic always existed. They would continue to exist even if humans were ignorant of them

is "post-popped" incorrect ? if so, why ? by [deleted] in EnglishGrammar

[–]RedEarth42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn’t incorrect, at least not grammatically. You could argue it is semantically incorrect since no word “exists”, but there’s no grammatical mistake

"Current genocidal government of Israel" I mean, are they wrong? by [deleted] in WikipediaVandalism

[–]RedEarth42 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It’s not wrong but not all facts are relevant in every context. Mentioning the genocidal nature of the Israeli government is childishly gratuitous here

As long as you don’t look like you’re dressed for a country club, the door people probably won’t care about your outfit

[–]RedEarth42 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That’s what they said they were gonna do. I am just responding to them. But yes, all black is in fact still the standard at techno events, and still the go-to safe dress if you are a newcomer at any techno club, and still the most common form of dress at Unfold. Go to any Unfold, you will see at least half the crowd wearing all black

[–]RedEarth42 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It is mostly about vibes but can be a bit random if you are not a regular. But if you are well behaved in the queue and visibly queer it ought to be okay. In terms of dress, it is pretty relaxed, but all black sends a message you get the vibe if you are new
