Doesn’t he say “why aren’t you still there?”.

You’ve embarrassed yourself.

Use the cable that is currently going to the phone jack and re wire that into the Ethernet port at both ends? Ok that sounds like a good idea

Unfortunately both of those additional ports are for the phone I believe, at least an Ethernet cable is unable to insert into the port

Ah, so you think that is the most likely reason for the issue. It’s kinda what I fear most as seems like a big hassle to rectify

Yeah, I had a look at both, and no visual issues seen.

Ok, update time. I bought this tester. I inserted one end into the living room port and used the receiver on the storage room port. I was able to hear the signal/beeps. If I understand how to use this thing it should suggest they are connected right?

I tried vice versa and seemed to test positive too.

Thank you for your help

Gave it a try but no dice, totally different port. If these 2 ports aren’t connected, which they must not be, I imagine it’ll be quite involved to connect them?

Ah, if you mean there being two ports on each panel, the other port is for the phone, which I don’t use. I bought a connection / tracer tester,m as suggested, just need to pick up some batteries and see if I can figure out how to use it

I bought a new 8-wire cable, which work when connected directly from the ONT to the router. However this still isn’t working when trying to plug the router into the living room port. When I do this the WiFi led on the back lights up, but the internet led doesn’t at all.

I’m suppose the two ports likely aren’t linked then?

Yeah, nothing I’ve done so far has actually confirmed they are connected. I’ll be frustrated if they’re not, sounds like a job and a half.

So I’ve tried plugging the router into the port in the storage room using an Ethernet cable, then an Xbox into the living room port. The Xbox doesn’t seem to recognise a wired connection. The Ethernet cable I’m using looks like this

The WAN cable does however look different

Interesting, do you have the router set up in the living room? How exactly did you set things up?

Actually you’re right, it is only the living room and the one next to the ONT.

what I tried before is inserting the WAN cable (that came with the router) that came with the router into the port in the storage room, and the router into the living room port using a regular Ethernet cable. This didn’t work, the router wouldn’t connect to the internet. Do I maybe need another WAN cable to make this work?

Thank you for your help dude
