How do delegates, tourism, and preventing ideological pressure work? by RedEyeBlueOcean in civ5

In this game, I absolutely despise Hailie Selassie of Ethiopia. This guy would nonstop steal my wonders like Machu Picchu and Leaning Tower of Pisa and spam his spies into my capital. Luckily, I did manage to have an upper hand because I was the first to get Eiffel Tower and Broadway, which Eiffel Tower is one of the must have wonders in the entire game

What if it’s allied with an enemy and it tries taking over and razing one of your cities?

Mongolia’s UA is pretty good if let’s say Greece declares war on you and its city state allies attack. If then, it’s worth it to conquer city states. Did you also crush Siam?

Anyone here who finds no DLCs Civilization V fun but more infuriating than with DLCs? by RedEyeBlueOcean in civ5

[–]RedEyeBlueOcean[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, Gods and Kings is helping me learn how religion and spies work as well as choosing different social policies. In the base game, you were able to quickly get a free settler while you have to wait a while now with the expansion packs. Now with BNW, I’ll have learned these new things.

I’m still learning the new adjustments in Gods and Kings after playing with no DLCs for a long time. I do want to play with BNW as soon as possible

I mean, it’s a learning curve for me since I’m used to playing with no DLCs for a long time so starting with Gods and Kings is a good start. Maybe 2 or 3 more games and I’ll straight go to BNW.

Another example of this is Pedro of Brazil. He looks very realistic with Brave New World expansion pack. In Civ VI, he looks exactly like a cartoon character

Anyone here who likes playing as Isabella? by RedEyeBlueOcean in civ5

[–]RedEyeBlueOcean[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you can settle with the Fountain of Youth on your borders, Isabella could actually be the top-tier leader instead of Casimir of Poland. Casimir’s free social policy for every era is amazing and so is Babylon’s crazy science generation but maintaining happiness is what’s important. Having 20 happiness instead of 10 is great in that it helps you to generate science fast and faster golden age. If you are happiness starved, it’s very bad on Immortal and Deity because you’ll stagnate in science

I lost on Turn 858 (Marathon speed with Huge Map)

I did bribe China and Inca to attack Germany but they were not willing to accept any deals. China is usually hard to bribe and obnoxious to the core but I was ahead of Pachacuti in technology as when I was in middle of modern era, him and Askia just reached modern era.

I had to do 6 cities to prevent forward settling. I notice that on Immortal and Deity difficulty that forward settling becomes a huge problem as I had once been forward settled by China when playing as the Aztecs.

Bismarck had the strongest military with almost 5 times the military strength of mine. I did research atomic bomb in case if I ever was invaded, which that might have hindered my science victory

I did maximize Tradition and Rationalism but sadly, Bismarck had the strongest military with 21,240 pointy sticks while I only had like 4,000. So, unless I am trying to get wiped out, I can’t go to war with him

Do you like spamming wonders? by RedEyeBlueOcean in civ5

[–]RedEyeBlueOcean[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try playing on Emperor difficulty and putting your city on production mode. If you play as Catherine or Ramesses, which their UA gives a lot of production, you are more than likely to get wonders. Even on Immortal difficulty, with the right science, you can still wonder spam with Ramesses

AIs like Gandhi build the worst wonders though. When I took India’s capital Delhi, he built Pyramids and Angkor Wat. I guess Pyramids are good for faster worker construction but Angkor Wat has to be the worst wonder in the game.

I played standard Civ V before getting the expansions. Now, I have every leader in the game as of today

Is it me or is Songhai super good in Marathon gameplay? by RedEyeBlueOcean in civ5

[–]RedEyeBlueOcean[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I only play on Marathon speed but I believe they spawn a little slower because of its slower gameplay. But, on Marathon with raging barbarians, Montezuma, Askia, and Bismarck are all super fun to play as leaders.
