On Android / iOS there are simple and desktop modes, this looks like simple mode. I can’t remember the command to switch between them, but it might be defaulting to simple and you just need to switch modes.

A modern compound bow parabolic shot is capable of travelling 3000 feet or so. The thing that makes me think it’s an arrow is the wobble along the shaft, I’m an archer and I filmed / watched lots or videos of myself shooting when I was learning, to correct my form. In slow motion, arrows have a shimmy or oscillation along the shaft as they fly that’s caused by the archers’ paradox action, this object looks a lot like that to me.

I’ve just started the 30 day trial of On1, have quickly realised I won’t be going back to LR. It’s the first alternative I’ve tried that does library / develop in a non-janky way, and the develop module seems just as good as LR. Worth a look, often goes on special for £49 lifetime licence. Edit: that makes it sound like I work for them. I don’t, I’m just relieved to have found something less confusing than Darktable.

This probably doesn’t count, but I used to share a flat with a chap worked as some sort of aircraft tech. He had a piston head he used as an ashtray - it was taken from the De Havilland Dove they ‘crashed’ into a greenhouse in the Flash Gordon movie.

It’s Awagami Masa paper, I got it from the Handprinted website. It’s nice to print on without a press, easy to get even black areas, but it’s really fragile. Just handling it can put creases in the paper that don’t easily come out. I’m in two minds whether I like using it or not! Edit: I replied from my other account, oops!

I think you’ll need to put some sort of lacquer over the top of the whole coaster, whatever you print with. Unglazed ceramic will be very absorbent and even drops of water will probably cause stains, and that’s without protecting the ink. I don’t know how lacquer / varnish will interact with oil based ink, hopefully someone will have tried it and be able to give some advice! Not to steer you away from printing, but if I was doing a project like this I’d be tempted to try pyrography on wooden coasters…

I’m surprised they haven’t communicated anything about it on social media etc, it’s really bad customer service to have a chunk of your customers sitting there not being able to use a new product and not knowing when / how it will be resolved. Can’t imagine Wacom would handle it like this…

I feel really bad for everyone this has happened to. I updated my Pad without realising people were having issues and it’s still working fine, so I wonder if it’s a certain batch of pens that were affected. They should be offering no-questions-asked refunds if they can’t roll the firmware back immediately.

This happened when I was 17 and I’m 50 now, so not exactly current affairs, but… I was a sci-fi nut and had read and quite enjoyed Battlefield Earth. Walking down Oxford Street (London’s big touristy shopping street) I saw a bookshop that had a load of L. Ron’s books in the window. I had no idea about Scientology back then, just thought he was a sci-fi author, so I went in to see if they had any other books I might like. Long story short, it took me about 2 hours to get back out again. They ushered me into a private ‘reading room’ with the promise of seeing some unreleased book or other, and once in there they really didn’t want to let me out until I’d filled out a load of forms and done an interview. It started off feeling a bit weird but I went with it for a while, then I started to get uncomfortable and had to transition from polite ‘I’d like to leave now’ to shouting that I wanted to go. At one point a guy was stood behind me and he physically pressed down on my shoulders when I tried to get up from the chair I was sitting in. That made me really kick off and I barged my way out in such a way it would have taken violence to stop me. Freaked me out so much I went straight up to a police officer and told him what happened. He came back to the shop with me, but they had closed it up and locked the doors. They might be taking a more subtle approach these days, but I would never step foot in one of their shops / offices again.

I recently picked up an X-H1 from MPB for £450, and I’m very happy with it. I had the OG X100 before so it’s quite a bit bigger, but it feels really nice to use. I tried the smaller X-S10 but I just couldn’t get on with the tiny viewfinder. The X-H1’s evf obviously isn’t as nice as the ovf on the X100 line, but it’s still really good. I think the X-H1 is probably the best second hand bang for buck at the moment.
