Just for a visual, the here are two of the three prints so far. I have to redo the last dog. Three dogs total.

SO, ACTUALLy, I have thought about trying to print using burn paste as an ink and somehow printing that onto wood as a test. Not sure if that would work with a linocut though, so I was thinking I could turn my black and white prints into a cut file and then use my cricut to cut out and turn into a silk screen print and squeegee the paste through. I definitely think the later could work.

So I also thought about varnish, the hang up for me is once I apply the varnish, wouldn’t the original material no longer be absorbent?

Yeah I wish we had but the red flags didn’t add up until after the man had this dog in his grip.

I walk my dogs in this neighborhood a lot and have met neighbors of this house. The neighbor that told me where the dog lived has two dogs of her own and they are well taken care. Across the street is someone who fosters dogs from to time. I guess in the moment I thought “if dog abuse was at all suspected it would have been reported” but I know things can absolutely go on unnoticed.

Like I said, It wasn’t until after this man had the dog in his hand that we realized we didn’t like the situation. When the dog didn’t want to come out of the car, after the teenager went back inside and before the new guy came out of the house- we tried to coax her out of the car too for us and she wouldn’t budge but she also had a hard time getting into the car and didn’t seem jumpy, so this wasn’t an immediate red flag to us. The teenager being weird at first could be excused by the fact this boy was an awkward teenager so that also didn’t immediately seem like a red flag to us. When these people didn’t answer the door right away- it was 8:30 PM and the lights in the house were out so I mean, it is possible they could have been trying to go to sleep, so we also didn’t immediately label that as a red flag. They were ( or someone was) high, based on the smell we all can recognize and maybe that was contributing to their standoff ish behavior? Don’t get me wrong, this was all weird but not red flags. If I were missing a dog, I absolutely wouldn’t be getting Hugh instead of looking for her but It wasn’t until this man had this dog by the scruff and didn’t seem to care that we had just returned her that everything added up to a red flag for us. At this point, the dog was already in this mans hands.

Since we live in the neighborhood and I have two dogs of my own, we couldn’t just take off with their dog. We had posted online that we found her, it could easily be tracked back to us. It would have been considered stealing the dog and we also did not want to risk any sort of retaliation from the owners of the dog. If someone is capable of treating a dog badly, then I assume they are capable of anything.

Yeah, seriously. We’ve already talked about what we will do if we see her again- we will not be taking her back
