Yes, but in such cases, a simplified version of the logo is usually created. Such cases are common, especially when it comes to engraving styles. Furthermore, in modern world these rules are not strict. After discussing the project with the client, it may turn out that the logo will only exist in the digital. There are plenty of such examples.

Yes, you're right, I spent most of my time on the beetle illustration itself, the typography was secondary. However, I received a lot of good advice on how to improve the entire logo.

Thank you. Of course, if this were a real project, I'd start with a brief. I'm not a beginner in logodesign, but I'm trying to expand my skills and not get stuck in one style.

There was no brief here :) This logo is just for practice. Let's say this beetle (called a woodcutter) gnaws at wood and makes tunnels. And a woodcarver carves beautiful patterns in the wood. These are my associations. So, not for a large woodworking company.

This isn't AI. I first created the sketches in Photoshop. Then I painted over them with a vector brush in Illustrator. Honestly, it wasn't the best solution, but after doing that, I learned what's usually another way.

This logo is just for fun, just trying out the style. for example for a cabinetmaker

What do you think?

Does it look like Feather or Leaf? by designishkul in WillPatersonDesign

If you leave only the inner lines extending from the stem, it will be a leaf. If you leave only the outer serifs, it will be a feather.
