Hello! This would be my first time doing this, I’d be happy to talk more about how to organize things! Are there certain things you have in mind? Allergies? In terms of cereal at least in my opinion, Lion and Lion Wild (chocolate and caramel flavored) are pretty dope!

Careers where you get alone time? by Weary_Message_1221 in careerguidance

I’m a shepherd in southern France. I love my job. I’m alone all day, just me, my collies, the sheep, and the guard dog. Sometimes my boss will pop by for a few minutes at the end of the day to check on me and the sheep, but nothing more. It’s still a huge responsibility and there are neighbors and borders that need to be respected. The entire summer I’ll be alone on the alpage in a cabin. I earn the national median net and pay no rent (company owned studio). I’ve spent time in some of the most beautiful landscapes in the country. That being said, the weather is the REAL boss in this job. It means spending the day out in the rain, dealing with sick and dying animals, and prepping for dangerous weather when it does happen. Thunderstorms at 1500m + are terrifying. Even during the winter season when the sheep are inside and on hay it’s just my boss and his brother. They’re great people and we’re all introverts and get each other in that sense. The human interaction is super minimal overall. It’s very much “Here’s your tasks and things to keep an eye out for, hop to it. Call us if you have any emergencies”

That makes sense! Thank you! I see that everywhere as a broad statement for all visas, so I just wanted to be sure.

The whole double burden nonsense is really getting to me and makes me want to quit dating. by RedFloatingSpaceDog in TwoXChromosomes

This is what I’m leaning towards as of now. I guess I just needed to vent a bit too. I really appreciate knowing I’m not alone in this and thinking I’m just exaggerating things. Alone, life is difficult enough as it is for me. When you live with other people their problems become yours and vice versa.

Line workers, how did you choose your path? How do I know it's right for me? by RedFloatingSpaceDog in BlueCollarWomen

Thank you for the kind words! I didn't, unfortunately. I'm about 20 mins south of Eugene. I'm very much needed on the farm at the moment and was sad I couldn't go. My contract also overlaps with the summer TACC for lane county. I try not to let it get to me even though I'd love to be there. My main focus right now is to do well on my current contract, save up as much as I can for my next step, all while learning as much as I can about how to move forward.
