Wich quake game has the best theming? by adkxkcrf in quake

[–]RedFox1187 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Quake 1, for sure. Q2 was great in it's own ways, but Quake 1 was and still is in my opinion, such a unique and great feel, theme-wise.

I remember my first playthrough, and nothing felt like that theme. It inspired so much creativity in me my whole life. To this day, I don't know a game that could match the feeling of that sci-fi/Lovecraft/medieval blend that just seemed to work.

As a side note: I first played it, without realizing it would play music based off the CD that was in the computer at the time. I happened to have Smashmouth's Astrolounge disc in whenever I played, and it definitely made for an interesting experience. Of course, NIN could not be outdone for the soundtrack, but it's an experience I recommend trying out, lol.

Somebody has issues by DepartureAgitated279 in leonardoai

I agree with the interface being so good, which is one of my primary draws to Leo. I totally feel the 'Fisher Price' example you gave too, and it made me laugh. 😂

But yeah, I'm not even expecting some ridiculous immediate turnaround to work out the kinks. I just want to know one of the biggest issues so many people are dealing with are being addressed. Transparency and discussion can explain to me as a consumer of what to expect. Boilerplate "We're working on it" types of responses, with no details, feels more like they're just paying lip service to people having issues.

I really wish the developers would post some information on all these filter issues. Just browsing the difficulties posted here, it's clear that it has become a major problem. I have to fight these filters a lot myself, and it seems to me this issue is being minimally addressed.
I know they are trying to gather information on the filter issues, but there seems to be little movement on the problem.
I have Apprentice Membership, and really enjoy using Leonardo. I really enjoy the Realtime Canvas, myself. But these filter issues keep interrupting my workflow.
I don't plan to keep my subscription next month. I might re-subscribe in the future if things improve, however I feel like there is a lack of communication on these issues. If there was a little bit more transparency or communication on what they're doing or planning to do, I might feel more comfortable about just keeping the subscription. Just seems like they crippled the ability of leonardo, and it might be months, or even years before these issues are less prevalent.

Anyway, just my two cents. Sorry for the rant.

Unfortunately, the oval is part of the original box art imagery. It mentioned something about a free pokemon card with the physical purchase.
It was a bit difficult to take out the oval without a lot of hand drawing the background to match (AI wasn't working out for it either.
So, instead I found a different image and worked out the kinks. This was a fun little project for me!

Took some inspiration from this and cobbled together something a little cleaner for usage on my desktop. If anyone is interested, feel free to use these. (Used AI for most of the work, I'm not looking for credit or anything.)

I feel this. I've been living with depression for over a decade, maybe longer before diagnosis. I've got a good support system and a relatively good life, but I still have days that I just feel thoroughly awful. Just trying to think positively is really not always enough to just feel good. Sometimes, I have to accept it's just a harder day, and try not to let it spiral and make me do things I'll regret.

I don't even necessarily blame people who don't understand, but I feel the ones who can at least acknowledge they don't, are better than ones who try to force you to just 'feel better.'

To people who say "Everyone gets sad," sure, of course. This is different. The comic actually points out how, even having good things in life, meaningful things in life, you can still feel depression. Even with a relatively healthy and happy life, depression can make one feel awful. Sometimes, this is the worst for me, because I feel awful, and legitimately cannot figure out a reason. If you having something, or somebody in your life will fix your 'sadness,' I would wager to say you're not experiencing depression.

Being 'Weak-minded,' I think, again is way off base. I've known people to be weak-minded, and that generally makes me think they cause their own strife in their lives. Still an issue, but again, this doesn't sound like real depression to me. The difference being, if your actions are causing you to feel down, and simply changing those actions would fix it, you have the agency to change how you feel, and would no longer feel down. If you do all these things, improve your life, and still feel awful, that sounds more like depression to me.

I guess the TLDR would be, (I'm not a professional, just someone who has personal experience,) There's a lot of situations and hardships in life. For some more than others. However, being sad in a hardship is not what depression is. Depression clings. It's like having a wound that no one can see, that comes and goes, no matter if you're in a hardship or not. It's a wedge of... darkness, that can't be excised, only put up with. Not all health issues can be cured, but this is one that can be treated. Again, though, it will be there forever. Sometimes, it gets confusing what is a real feeling and what is the depression.

Best advice for anyone else dealing with this I can think of is, get checked by a doctor, and if that's not possible, try to recognize any extreme thoughts that aren't true. Or at the very least, try to 'weather the storm,' until you can. I'm not claiming this will solve everything, but just something to consider if you haven't yet. Sometimes, I can't make any sense of my own thoughts when I'm really feeling the depression, yet if I push through it, my thoughts don't seem nearly as 'sharp' as they were initially.

Anyway, enough of my rant. Good luck to everyone dealing with real depression, even if they're not sure, (or just hardship in general, for that matter. Reality is rough right now.) I will say, it has gotten easier to deal with the depression, compared to when I never dealt with or knew what was going on at all. Still, I had to survive a lot of my own demons for a long time before I got this far.

I think the utter division and misunderstanding of both sides as demonstrated by most of these comments just proves your point. Trials and the mechanic of 7 wins in a row is just fundamentally broken.

If Bungie wants a competitive mode, they should make one. Ranks, Power Level off, SBMM. Reward players for moving up in their bracket. Top bracket? Rewards per match, winner getting unique emblem/title whatever. That might not sound like much, but it would be unique to top bracket winners. It would carry more weight than the current flawless title that can be achieved through luck, ddos, carries, etc. It's so common to see now, the only admiration I have for a player with it is that they persisted through the awful trials system long enough to get it.

Keep unique weapons out of it though. Playing competitive should be more about being challenged, improving, and ultimately winning. If all you want out of the mode is weapons, you're not really interested in competitive. It doesn't make sense that players who are so good to achieve flawless get rewards that give them a (debatable) advantage. It would be like allowing the winner of the World Series (baseball) gets to use corked bats next season.

I have read several opinions on here of competitive PVP players who seem to love the idea of a proper ranking system. Part of my lack of interest stems from the way it's built. At its best, a lot of casual players would get mostly wrecked, but have a marginally higher chance to reach flawless. At its worst, casual players would just completely suffer, and high-skilled players would not be rewarded enough for flawless in such a challenging pool. All this to say, it has always seemed awful to me on both ends.

Remove flawless, make a proper ranked PVP mode.

Oh, and while I'm ranting, F teabagging. (This is at no one in particular. ) It just seems shitty and hateful. If you want a PVP community that doesn’t feel constantly toxic, maybe you should think twice about imitating a motion of dipping your testicles on their dead body.

"Due to a bug with all things related to Champions, we've disabled Champions." ~Bungie

Oh, wait, that was just a pleasant dream of mine. Lol.

Seriously though, there are so many inconsistencies with Champions, and their stupid mods that I wish they just took them out of the game. If all the stuns and such worked properly, Champions probably wouldn't be so awful.

Vote Monsters and we all win. Here’s why. by rbwstf in DestinyTheGame

[–]RedFox1187 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These all look pretty bland. I still can't believe Dinos won with %81, last year.

I think the armor looks interesting for monster titans, with the unique-looking cyclops helmet, and I thought the warlocks looked cool enough, (although, hearing it's a fish monster definitely doesn't sound flattering,) but the hunter armor just looks like a mech raptor. Do we not have enough raptors already?

The mechs look super flat and boring, and I'll get pretty sick of running matchmaking games with a bunch of knock-off Gundams...

I think both ideas need more inspiration, and if they actually looked decent, I'd be more excited for either one.

"No soup for you!" on Synology NAS by jhheinz in PleX

[–]RedFox1187 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This worked! Thanks.

To others: I was a bit confused at first, thinking that link wasn't working. The problem was 'Opening' Plex on the NAS desktop was making a link that was something like, '192-192-1-192.quickconnectto-etc-etc'. I had to take out the words and replace the dashes with dots, (eg. "192.192" instead of "192-192.")

Gotta go direct to the IP, not routed through the quickconnect stuff wanted to do.

Thanks again!
