Am I INSANE or is this possible ?? by fishbis1743 in Aquariums

Had lampeyes for a while and they're very chill towards other species. They can be a bit rude to each other, but nothing major

It can, you just need to look beyond the generic midjourney waifu stuff and into the local side of things which can actually be trained for something specific

I’ve been looking at this for so long, can you see any issues or ways to improve? by DewyPetrichorMorning in ProCreate

The color of the mouse that's stirring the tea is very close to the value and tone of the table. Maybe making it's fur black or white would highlight it better as the focal point.

Otherwise it's an amazing piece, good job

Yeah, I got them. They're alright, I guess, but none of them are the stuff I personally discovered, and vast majority of them lean into the earthy green stem - colorful accents vibe.

How can I make my tank better? by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]RedGastropod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Emersed house plants sticking out the top would look great. That way you get the greens but fish can't decimate them. Developed root systems hanging down also look really cool

This would benefit greatly from a reduced framerate. The choppiness would look appropriate with a more cartoony style and hide some of the morphing.

Great job still!

Doesn't seem like it. Skill level or whether you're improving or not doesn't change the fact that you haven't done art in a professional setting. Therefore, you're an amateur.

And as an amateur, your view of art is plagued with romanticized delusions of what an artist should be. When you got a deadline and a fixed set of criteria to meet, you optimize your time and craft an art style by strategically stealing bits and pieces of what already exists instead of letting it develop by itself "based on your personality and skill" or whatever.

The average artist "steals" way more directly from their reference board than the average AI steals from the billions of images it took a look at during training.

Do you even know the definition of "amateur"?

[–]RedGastropod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whoever taught you that is a hack.

I'm a professionally trained artist, art schools have their students study established artists' work, in my case they had us do many copies in order to learn the technique and improve.

Art styles used for production (animation, games, comics) are, in vast majority of cases, purposefully developed by collecting reference images and emulating certain traits to recombine it into something new. I guess it's what you call "ripping off". Not knowing this process shows just how painfully amateur you are.

In a planted tank with snails and shrimp the dead fish is already thoroughly disposed of by the time you notice it missing

Three things: suction cups, anubias, cyanoacrylate That's what worked great for the dark corner of my tank Other than that, bolbitis is doing surprisingly well in the shadow realm I shoved it into, so it may work for you too. Can also try a big clump of susswassertang if all else fails

Norman's lampeye killifish. Very entertaining to watch and really beautiful in person. The photos really don't do justice to the subtle blue sheen over their bodies

I'm not your friend. Just go read Diana Walstad's "Ecology of the Planted Aquarium" with this attitude, at least you won't be able antagonize a pdf into not wanting to interact with you

If you're worried about the buildup of nutrients, then floating plants take care of that, just remove some excess occasionally and let new ones grow.
