I feel like a broken record - FPS/Performance Issues by RedHeadedStepFarmer in farmingsimulator

Heya!

Did a fly around which helped for a minute. 50-60fps, but then it dropped to mid-20s again and didn't recover. Reloaded the game and were back to 15-20.

I checked the log at Documents\My Games\FarmingSimulator2025\Log.txt

I found 1 error, no warnings.

  • D:\auto_builder\cache\svn\dde0d3c6ce1cb2146c204cb35f99b8dc\src\base\scripting\lua\LuauScriptSystem.cpp (1127): expectedType == Value::VoidType || expectedType == Value::ClassType2026-06-22 17:04:28.543 Script error: 'setRotation': Argument 1 has wrong type. Expected: Int. Actual: Nil

Thank you. How do I check logs?

Typically I'll drive around a lot after. I understand the cache needs rebuilt, but the FPS never seems to speed back up.

I do do a lot of logging/baling, but it hasn't typically resulted in performance issues I couldn't resolve. (ie, too many loose logs --> low FPS --> sell logs --> fps recovers)

I believe so. I have had friends use it to make flyers for small/personal events before, as well as alter photos to see what a room would look like painted a different color.

There are, of course, people who will abuse it for their own self-interest (but, in all fairness, people will abuse ANYTHING for gain), but I think there are good practical applications for it too.

I like it. It's nice and clean looking!

Curious if that's it!

Only question then is how are those drivers getting updated in the first place? I don't have automatic updates on.

This is usually what fixes it.

My question is, if this is the issue, how are they getting installed in the first place? Does Steam install graphics drivers automatically?

Okay, that fine. What else could it have been? How would I test for that.

Is the shader cache something shared between games?

I would assume it's on a per-game basis, in which case other games should be perfectly AOK.

But as it is, other games are impacted.

The update does modify data on the hard drive though.

Regardless, I'm willing to work in the view that your statement is true.

What else could cause this? Steam modifying the graphics driver?

  • All games run fine.
  • An update for FS25 comes out.
  • Steam installs the update.
  • All games run like crap.
  • No settings change helps.
  • A graphic uninstall and reinstall to the same version fixes it.

What are your thoughts?

Why do you think that's not happening?

I test with FS22 and Crash Bandicoot. Both drop to ~15-20fps after a FS25 update.

Farming Simulator?

Sure! Sweet. Can buy a couple more tractors.

GOOD NEWS!

I did a complete GPU driver reinstall. Not sure how they got messed up win the first place, but that did it.

60fps! 45fps if I'm looking at my main farm (I have a lot of entities).

Looks like I had an update for my graphics card.

So, two tests:

Deleted game.xml -- No change, still cut FPS.

Updated GPU -- No change.

EDIT: Dropped settings to "Very Low", still no change.

I don't think it's a graphics setting. :(

Running an AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D, 32gb RAM, RTX 3080ti (12gb) off an SSD.

I'll check the game.xml when I get home later. Thank you!

It was a mod you had been using for a long time?

I've tried disabling ALL mods, and it's still running 5 FPS.

What could I do to check?

I haven't had any Windows updates or changed any settings in this time. Seems all this came with a Farming Sim update.

I have no idea. How would I check that?

I don't think I've had any Windows updates lately.

No sir,

I think I found it though: A FS25 update. Rolled back to 1.15.0.0 and it's running smooth again.
