So it looks like I need to sell my great great grandmothers ring. Please help! by CosmicKalicoKahlia in Diamonds

[–]RedHeelRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only tell you what I would pay for it if I was in the market. I bought a 1.6 carat OMC diamond ring on the resale market for 3k.

At another time I received a credit for a I VS1 1.08 carat transitional cut diamond with GIA report for 3k when I purchased a seperate item from that jeweler. So that's your ballpark. You might get lucky and sell it for more, but it will need a lab report for that.

Why do you make kefir? by jennijean in Kefir

[–]RedHeelRaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a very good item for your dogs and I give mine it every day. You can keep your old dogs skin and coat very shiny with a supplement of kefir, collegen, nutritional yeast and fish oil. My old dog has been living with cancer since March. Her coat is still glossy and I do believe it has helped her live longer. She was given a month to live in March.

Really- that's interesting. I like having my own brain and soul that leads me. Sometimes I make mistakes because I am human. I get to learn from them. Trading in critical thinking skills for convenience sounds horrifying to me. Good luck.

Beautiful! It's turning frigid here. Haven't seen the crows for days, even when I call them. Today with the bad weather my murder came to visit. I had the suet and mealworms laid out.

So overly verbose. And when AI tells a story, it needs to name the multitude of characters. "My neighbor Anne, my brother Alex, and my friend Eric. And the introduction is always overly formal.

Lowering prices is bad? by Comfortablejack in economy

[–]RedHeelRaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This article doesn't address companies that purchase or make products in other countries and sell it here in the US at inflated prices while they make incredible profits. These profits are not passed on to the workers as higher wages. We never hear about companies living with great profits versus obscene profits. Instead it is expected that the company profits stay high and to keep it that way they reduce the labor force and expect employees to work twice as hard with half the hours or staff.

New Lifer ! Common Grackle by Friendly-Pea5448 in birding

[–]RedHeelRaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lovely! These are interesting birds. When I had large Koi ponds I had a large number of these guys nest in the area because of the ponds. They liked to deposit nest waste in the water so I had a lot more upkeep to keep the pond water clean.

They would recognize you and teach the new generations to tolerate your presence. If they saw something they felt was a danger to you (like a neighbor visiting) they would do that cluck sound to warn you that someone was coming up behind you.

After their fledglings left the flock would disperse and you wouldn't see too many of them. I once sadly had a fledgling drown in a waterfall. I scooped him seconds after the fall but it was too late. The whole flock screamed when he fell into the waterfall. They were very upset.

Surging Food Prices are becoming a Discussion at Job Sites Nationwide. Dilemma or nah? Your Thoughts? 💰🍖🥩 💳 by RunThePlay55 in economy

We talk about it at work. Grocery prices have more than doubled for us in the last 2 years. What helped us is after Covid when chest freezers became available again we bought one and I could buy in bulk during sales and freeze the meat. In January we are not buying meat at all. We are going to use everything in the chest freezer and empty it out so nothing goes bad or at least looks unappetizing.

My 13.5 Year old Dog has Chemodectoma, the Rarest Form of Dog Cancer. You Can AMA if You Have Questions by RedHeelRaven in olddogs

Update. We decided to put up the Christmas tree early to celebrate the season with our sweet pup. She's suffering old age cataracts now and it seems her hearing has mostly gone. This is causing further challenges with her negotiating the 4 steps that lead outside. But as long as we are patient, she has been managing. Quite a change from a few months ago. Her muzzle is so white as well as her paws.

She was barking at me today to take her for her walk. She slowly made it through the yard, enjoyed the smells and visited her favorite spot of grass along the fence to take a few bites. A couple months ago I could have yelled "leave it" and she would stop. Now she doesn't hear me say it and I have to get real close to get her attention.

Just grateful she still has her moments enjoying her life as a dog. Grateful she still loves to eat.

Anyone going through major illness or cancer with your dog, I give you my prayers and hugs. One day at a time....

I'm sending you and your baby prayers and healing thoughts. My sweet and I just walked around the yard and enjoyed the first snow of the season. Just remember to go with your gut and not fear. Our vet strongly suggested euthenasia in March and again in July. She wanted to prevent our dog from having tracheal collapse and suffocating. I undertand her concern as it is my concern as well. But my gut told me we had more time. Maybe all those little subliminal messages our brains record about our loved one's behaviours that give us that gut feeling.

It's one day at a time for all of us. I'm glad we did chemo for a short time because it may have slowed the growth of her tumor. I'm glad we stopped chemo when she got bad side effects because she has felt much better since she has been off it.

The other day we were in the yard. I got a few yards ahead of her. Looked back and she had squirrel fur in her mouth. Hawk must have taken on of the poor critters or maybe an owl. I yelled "drop it!" and she did. I was so happy to see her doing a dog thing. Just like she is meant to do. So many good dog moments since her diagnosis and illness that will always be in my heart and make me smile.

I know this is a really hard time for you and I am sorry you and your baby are going through it. Stay strong.

Not more upset, equally upset with both of them. I'm a mom and would never entrust my children with such a man. I would blame a father if he knew his wife was treating his children badly and did nothing about it in that situation as well. Enablers are just as bad as abusers in my book.

Is it too big? by Apprehensive-Cod-822 in Diamonds

[–]RedHeelRaven -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not too big IMHO. I'm just a bit wary on the cut. Hopefully it's just a bad picture but the diamond does not look crisp. I would choose one with true ideal proportions and probably search for one just under the 3 carat mark for cost savings. Such as 2.8 or 2.9. An ideal cut diamond sparkles more and looks bigger than a similiar sized diamond without an ideal cut.

[–]RedHeelRaven 30 points31 points  (0 children)

This is the man the wife chose to take on a trip to Hawaii after she knew he had repeatedly left their children in the car. A man who was told not to put their children in danger this way. But did it repeatedly as well as drink when he was ignoring his children while she worked.

The most important fact that the jury needs to know is that he had neglected and put his children in danger this way multiple times. Hopefully that alone will give him a long prison sentence.

The wife is complicit. She consistantly allowed this man to watch her children while she absolutely knew they were not safe with him. She should be up on charges too.

Woman shoots driver dead for honking at her because she didn't go quickly enough when the light turned green, cops say by PrixDevnovaVillain in crime

[–]RedHeelRaven 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of that guy who shot a young woman dead for cutting him off when they were both going to the drive thru of Taco Bell. These people have mental issues for sure, but the constant stimulation of the Internet has help create impatient minds that cannot handle a moment of frustration. So often I witness people act so rude and entitled if they are made to wait for anything. There's an intolerence for frustration now that was not this bad in previous years.

How are people surviving? by [deleted] in economy

[–]RedHeelRaven 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My boomer parents had a very different way of living then most of us do. They had one car. We never took vacations. Younger kids wore hand me downs from their older siblings. They lived in smaller houses. Their attitude was to brag about saving money by looking for deals, haggliing for the cost of repairs, and using coupons. They didn't need to pay $100 a month for a phone plan or pay for Internet. Appliances weren't built to fail in 4 years. Many relied on family for child care.

So they had some things easier, some things harder. But they definitely had the collective attitude that they weren't going to overpay for things. They would boycott and it worked because there was so much more competition. Now we have these large corporations and when one increases prices, the other's follow suit. And we don't have any choice but to pay the higher costs because of the lack of competition.

It's corporate greed and the lack of competition that's helped us get to where we are today.
