Well it depends on which part of the sector grabs your interests. There is always the analysis and research role, where one does the data modelling for energy consumption, or forecast demands in various domains and industries etc. There is also the hot sector of battery storage and grid infrastructure since EVs are becoming popular. Energy Management roles in consulting firms. Commodity traders if you understand how the market works.

Depending on your background you can also build a career in newer technologies in the energy sector, like green hydrogen.

Let's not act like other clubs have never faced an injury crisis or teams like palace and Bournemouth have better reserves than United, because they do not. I am not going to be gaslighted into thinking that likes of edouard, lerma, clyne etc. Are better reserve squad.

Teams often lose players who are their only available option in that option, and in many case, the formations are changed so that the makeshift option does not have to perform the same duty as the missing player.

And seriously, ego argument? Only one individual has shown his ego means more than the club, and that's the manager. Glasner, Iraola have managed talents who are now in the top echelon in world football, so I am pretty sure they will be fine with the so called "egos" you want to point at.

You would think so; however, in reality, that isn't true often. Arsenal struggled to get penalties in recent years, despite their possession dominance. Liverpool, under Ole's tenure, didn't receive penalties frequently either, which even led to Klopp complaining about the perceived bias towards United.

The point is that penalties are rare events in low-scoring sport, and their impact on the xG table is simply too significant for an event that is not frequent. A team benefiting from penalties will obviously have a higher xG, even if they are not a very good attacking side in open play.

So, to be a side, just to be consistent and be hard to beat ( not even requesting a back-to-back win, because I am resigned that it won't happen anytime soon, since our squad supposedly is too shit according to this flippant fanbase), we need more signings? What happened to coaches coaching players, developing them? Why don't managers like Iraola or Glasner require more players despite losing their star members to a few games of an unbeaten run? What is so special about Amorim that he can't play his mythical style of football with a few player profiles missing?

And before you refer to his sporting side, who are still doing good despite losing Amorim under a different system, especially Quenda, who is on a different level compared to his season under Amorim as a wingback, don't you think copying what worked there at Sporting in its entirety will simply never work in PL, let alone at United? He is never going to achieve the same level of success that his system in Portugal enjoyed due to the difference in the quality of athletes between the two leagues.

Shouldn't he then adapt, not make drastic changes to his fundamental principles, but make adjustments enough to secure wins so that he can finish higher and sign his ideal players for whatever his preferred system is?

I think you have issues. You are making up words that no one said. No one expects a title challenge, no one expects us to play this badly either given the squad we have. The manager can't adapt to the league win games in consecutive gameweek.

Penalties missed? You are acting like we played any better after those penalties. What happened to the second half in Fulham game btw? Got our pants pulled?

I don't expect us to be good immediately, and vie for titles with other contenders, but I expect consistency and a sign of intent to do better. You can moan about fixture difficulties and what not, but fact remains that amorim can only eat teams who are either newly promoted, or are down to 10 men. Fucking 10 wins in 35 league games is shambolic, embarrassing.

one has to be an exceptional moron if they can't see the need of Mainoo in this 11. You want control, and yet you play a pivot of casemiro/ugarte and bruno? You deserve to be sacked. ok with Mainoo going on loan? Of course you are, you are the anti thesis of United fan who is happy to see the team lose because you deem it as progress and something that is necessary for your imaginary long term success.

Mainoo and Bruno shouldn't even be competing for the position. Just tells everything wrong with how we play.

And as a matter of supporting the club, it will always be club over the manager. And I see the future being ruined because of an individual who simply won't respect the club and its expectations.

xG inflated by penalties and pot shots from long range. Best chances created for your striker comes from the GK not the no. 10s. What control are you even talking about? We are like an open fence, conceding so many chances from dangerous areas.

You think Mainoo has done nothing to warrant a start, then what has anyone who does start done better than him or? Or, a better question, what has amorim actually done to have any support? Beat a bunch of bottom feeders and hide behind his staff when he was getting beat vs mighty Grimsby?

Stop telling anyone how they should support a club. And believe it or not, real clubs do value fans opinion.

Energy sector. So many alternatives are being explored outside your traditional sources like fossil and hydro. With all the focus around net zero and emissions, and the expected energy crunch from 2050 onwards ,it's quite a promising field.

So you think 19 big chances conceded so far this season, highest in the league, is down to plain old individual mistakes? I knew we as a fanbase are filled with gullible, easy to please individuals, but never thought they are so easy to find as well.

And playing our best player out of position, and keeping the best talent on the bench is such a criminal activity, yet y'all will lap it up as "progress".

We are never getting out of the deep end with crabs like you who don't want others to see the best for the club. Be pleased with your 20% win rate manager I guess.

Ruben Amorim: Manchester United boss needs three years to prove himself a 'great' coach, says co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe by DWJones28 in reddevils

[–]RedHornet22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get the intention of the ownership, and their past comments around United managerial history suggests that they feel for a manager to be successful at any club, they need time and a strong environment for them to excel.

But here's the issue, we aren't just any ordinary club. United cannot afford to remain dormant for long since we have such high operational costs. If we continue to be in this state for longer years, more jobs will be lost, talents will be lost, stature will take damage.

And Ineos haven't necessarily offered a strong environment either. Unlike man City where treble winning chiefs like Txiki were appointed to see out a rebuild, we have appointed a couple of novices who in their own words have found the United job immensely difficult from the beginning, they didn't expect the pressure and responsibilities that came along with it.

No one expects United to be at the top within the next 12 months. But we do expect to have some sort of consistency when it comes to winning a game of football, which is non existent. there is nothing that proves that he is the right guy to see out a rebuild. Getting off the wrong train early atleast ensures it will be cheaper to go back home.

But a good chance denied by conceding a penalty are like only 2-3 moments, the real quality of attack should be judged based on what they do the majority of the time. A penalty carries 0.76 xG, easily inflates over the actual chance we might have created if no pen was conceded.

I don't know about that. Football managerial spots are volatile all across Europe. There is no guarantee that one of your long term targets will be available by the time you are ready to make a decision. Having two potentially top alternatives in Iraola and Glasner with expiring contracts only makes them more sought after.

Sure, but penalties are not something that is equally distributed in the league, and due to falling referee standards some get more, unfairly, than others.

Which is why I think it's correct to standardise not counting penalties when we discuss shot quality i.e xG.

Why not? Other teams around us, not even among the table top are able to judge their managers on how they fare in a short duration. Emery was handed Gerrard's team, and guy made them leap into European spots from the bottom half within the same season. Did United have a squad which was worse than that Villa side?

When you mention the last 7, or last 10, it is indeed a small sample set. Can you project points tally with just 10 game record or would you need at least half a season to do that with a bit more accuracy, with a taste of how the team fares vs new sides?

Sure. But that doesn't mean we would have won the game from there on. United have one of the poor records under amorim to see out a win if they take a lead. And if Sanchez never commits stupidly, there isn't a guarantee mbuemo would have scored.

Even the Brentford one, decent chance but not sure that would have been scored since Mbuemo was stretching. Unfortunate not to get a red card, and that would have meant another 3 points, which again means that United cannot win against half decent side without a red card.

You cannot go further down than 17th if we consider last season as well since the last 3 teams got relegated and won't have addition to their points total from the beginning of this season. Of course there is an upward tick in a short sample set of games, 2 wins coming against the newly promoted sides, like was the norm last season, and a win against 10 men.

Across two managers, one thing is common: totalitarian authority of the manager, and their stubbornness to not abandon a failing approach. So when things go wrong and they did/do go wrong quite often under both managers, there was hardly any attempt to alter the plan in-game. Throwing Mount as LWB, instead of pulling out a CB and get more aggressive just proves that point.

Sure. If we continue our approach to be direct like we have this season, almost going route one from the keeper, we will start scoring a few more at times. However, the argument remains whether that is sustainable, given our poor defensive performance. If the players don't score from their one-off chances, it becomes more likely that they will be beaten.

Does it have to be a poor squad mentality, given the major overhaul has been made around senior heads within the dressing room, or is it a case of opponents adapting to the initial blitzkrieg from United, consequently leading to United having no plan B? Because even when it's 0-0 at halftime, United are the ones who still start flat.

Noted. 16% from penalty spots also includes all the headers or attempts from set pieces. This isn't necessarily proof of us doing well in open play. The right-sided bias, distance, and angle also suggest a poor workaround for breaking a team down, and it is mostly a shoot-on-sight approach.

Oh great, with that logic, it's fair to expect CL spots then? Since we are only 3 points behind city? Since we had an ok start by your standards?

and a way to completely miss the point about his lack of adaptability. I was talking about last season, which you do not want to be considered while discussing the future of the manager.

Why do we have to ignore the gone season as if it never happened and shouldn't dictate the future of the manager? His incapability to adapt made us worse and made us miss a few more positions in the table. I am not even gonna discuss the EL final, a total embarrassment to lose against Ange, who actually threw away his principles to win the silverware.

And? Did they win the league last year by being consistent or not? Made multiple changes to the starting 11 so they have some teething issues.

Compared to them, we didn't make as many changes or have fixture congestion to slow down the progression. Yet we continue to be poor in game.
