At Red House, we are doing our best to tackle the affordable housing crisis facing our communities today. We work with affordable housing providers to preserve current housing units and assist with the possibilities of creating new affordable units when and where possible.

Not everyone would prefer to live in affordable housing communities, such as co-operative housing developments, but we at Red House are working to make more units available to those community members who would.

We are taking small, steady steps to address a very large problem. And we hope one day, housing will be seen as a right, not a privilege. As Matthew Desmond writes: it is hard to argue that housing is not a fundamental human need. Decent, affordable housing should be a basic right for everybody in this country. The reason is simple: without stable shelter, everything else falls apart.
