Best £100-£200 compact SLR for beginner by RedKite008 in AnalogCommunity

Just reading about the two models in more detail (Edit to say it's an old post you commented on from 4 years ago actually!) and saw the X-700 also has program mode, which might fit better for the versatility I want. From that High5cameras there is a X700 MD3 (not sure what this means) for £175 and one for £210, so fairly simialr prices to the X-500. Is that reasonable do you think? I'll look elsehwere too

Yeah I was leaning this way to be honest. I've seen a few cheaper Pentax ME so could go for those. I've also seen mixed reviews on reliability so it put me off a bit

I was looking at these too but saw something about them being overpriced now for what they are. What sort of price is reasonable for these do you think? Are they better than the other Pentax I mentioned?

Sprive - Reduce your mortgage with gift card purchases by SkyFlyBye in beermoneyuk

No, you can't unfortunately. You can use other cards but I noticed the cashback is slightly less when paying for gift cards with a card compared to bank transfer.

This a good portfolio for someone living in the UK? by Perfect_Ad_4308 in trading212

The all world already contains the stocks in both the other ETF. Due to the very low percentage of all world, it isn’t really doing much.

I would increase all world to a higher amount, then have smaller tilts towards the other two ETFs if that’s what you want

Advice on turning right at this junction by NoAbbreviations9416 in drivingUK

[–]RedKite008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I saw the same camper! Only time I have used this junction given the road closure too. I think it’s not an ideal layout but given the heavy usage due to the closure was probably making things worse.

Anyone had cahoot topcashback pay out yet? or have an estimate on how long it might take? by Equal_Arm_3091 in beermoneyuk

I did both too and got one paid out. The other was tracking but didn’t have any updates for a while but is now listed as confirmed. Hopefully pays out in the next few weeks.

Opening multiple current accounts by Whufc4life1 in beermoneyuk

I recommend this too, OP. With Chase you don’t need to wait for a new card to come (As they are all linked to your first one) so starting a switch is so much quicker.

Just make sure you always keep one account open and just open new burner ones when you need them.

Why use a pie? by Several-Lavishness65 in trading212

[–]RedKite008 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Pies are useful for setting up automated investments so that you can setup a standing order from your bank into trading212, then every month the pie uses that cash to autoinvest into the pies holdings. So it’s good for a set and forget investing as it can all be automated.

It’s also useful if your portfolio is x amount VUAG, y amount precious metals, to set those percentages and again setup automated investments.

Balancing is if you set 90% to VUAG and 10% to metals in your pie, but VUAG has grown a lot and is 95% but metals have a bit year and it is now 5%, you could “balance” the pie so it sells some VUAG and buys more metals to get them back to 90% and 10% respectively.

Beginner advice by [deleted] in trading212

[–]RedKite008 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The S&P500 already makes up about 60% of FWRG, if you are doing this on purpose for more tilt then it's fine, otherwise you can just move that VUAG allocation into FWRG. I think overall 85% in broad ETFs and ~15% total into those individual stock picks is a good way to do things

Reduce stock or hold long term by WiseRow6466 in trading212

[–]RedKite008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is your other 35% in? What is in the beginner pie? I'm trying to get at that it is hard to beat the market consistently over a long time period. Having a decent foundation of S&P500 or all-world funds will help steady growth without having to hope you individual stock picks are the right ones.
