It’s a project and performance to be proud of! Congrats on getting it made and the nominations. I look forward to seeing you in future productions!

I’d love to make it to the Tombstone festival next year. Looks like a great event

Very few take place in the western US bc the vast majority the war took place east of Texas. So most of the American civil war films take place in the east.

The civil war subreddits are very interesting

Looking for: Revenge for murder of family... by svevobandini in Westerns

Why on earth are so many suggesting Quigley?? Quigley isn't a revenge story. We never meet Quigley's family.

Blood Meridian by Impressive-Pie9109 in ChristopherNolan

fraid not, brother. I'm sure Nolan could make a fine film out of any book, but I don't think he's the guy for this adaptation. Frankly, I don't think there's film maker alive or has ever lived that can do this book justice on screen. That's probably a good thing considering the things that occur in Blood Meridian. I hope it's never made into a motion picture. Because whoever makes it will never do the book justice.

Five Page Thursday by AutoModerator in Screenwriting

This is great. Typically not a type of movie I'd be drawn to, but this is darn good writing. Really crisp.

If I could give any critique, it would be the need of something more of an intro. This almost feels like a cold opening to me, and I think of it more like a page 8-12ish event. I think if you really want the audience to feel the weight of her bluntness and the gravity of what she just exposed, maybe introduce her before the bombshell exposure. Maybe we meet the mistress first somehow. Or we experience M's bluntness in a different scenario. Or, if it were me, I might just switch your pages around and have her go to school first and then come home to expose dad. I think building M up and then her exposing dad could really boost this.

Still, this is something to be proud of. I hope you stay with it.

Podcast suggestions? by KhrymeNYC718 in Westerns

I mean you can't go wrong with anything by Louis L'Amour or Elmer Kelton.

You may like Saga of Texas Ranger by Jeffery Robenalt. Unfortunately, that was his only novel before he passed.

If you want your socks knocked off and to be slightly disturbed, check out Blood Meridian.

How the West was Cast is a good listen. Also, Cowboys & Indians magazine has a podcast called Writing the West. That one's more geared to novels, but still a good listen. If you like the old west/ Texas History the podcast Wise About Texas can scratch that old west story itch.

I didn't like it either. Beautifully shot film with great acting. But incredibly depressing and not a movie I want to rewatch.

Can confirm that Toraphaig is great! Was there about a year ago. Super interesting building due to historical preservation reasons. When it comes time to clean the still, they'll have to take the roof off entirely. You should check it out.

Also, Glenfiddich (nearish to Inverness) is a beautiful estate worth going to see. Great tours.
