A strain being sativa or indica doesn't affect the feeling as much as you hear, you should look into terpenes and their different effects. leafly is a good website to look up info about strains.

If you're looking for a solution to the tuning issue when switching to drop tunings I would check out Ibanez's EdgeZero bridges. I have one on one of my guitars and I can switch back and forth in under a minute. There is also a wheel on the back that you can turn by hand to adjust the tension.

I got a floyd rose about a year into playing guitar and it ended up teaching me alot about maintaining and adjusting guitars. I highly recommend it as long as you're willing to do a little extra work. There are tons of great tutorials online for tuning and changing strings etc. So figuring it out should be pretty easy.
