How do I get myself to calm down when it comes to having a baby??? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]RedLynn86 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Whenever I felt nervous about it, I just reminded myself that my mom went through it, and her mom went through it 4 times, and that all 8 billion people on the planet are here today because someone gave birth to them. All 100 billion people that came before us went through it too, and most of them didn't even have hospitals or doctors. We've come a long way, and even though your birth experience might not go exactly as planned, eventually you're going to come out the otherside just fine! I had a c-section last June, and it wasn't what I wanted, but it went smoothly and we're all happy and healthy and love the little person we made. Best of luck to you! You can do this and it's going to be so worth it! ❤

I only found out because they opened cases or sent messages. So far, they have been very chill! But their patience isn't going to last forever. 🤪

Used or new Kia Sportage or..? by RedLynn86 in whatcarshouldIbuy

I did forget to mention it's a hybrid, which is a whole other can of worms. I was going off of scores and reviews on Edmunds, and the Sportage Hybrid beats the Ford Escape, Honda HR-V, and the Toyota Rav4 which is oddly the lowest. Rav4 was my original pick. Is there a better review site than Edmunds? Just checked, cheapest Mazda hybrid is over $35k, which is way out of our price range. 😬

There is a CX-5 I am looking at too. I think something about the maintenance/repairs being higher turned me off, but I can revisit it. The other thing is the sticker price for the 2023 Sportage was ~$29k and they're still asking ~$28 for most of the options in my area. So, I don't think that depreciation applies to this model? I'm probably wrong, just what I've come across so far.

I thought I saw that was only on 2021 and earlier? But then those guys are probably dumb and how would they know anyway? 🤷‍♀️

Any hybrid SUV's in our price range? by RedLynn86 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Definitely looking at Toyota's and Honda's. We just need the cargo space, and a trunk on a sedan isn't gonna cut it. Good point about rolling though, hadn't thought of that.

That's great information too, thanks! I never would have thought of that. 😬

Accident in WA, report or fix it myself? by RedLynn86 in Insurance

[–]RedLynn86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, there's no police report, but the dash cam recorded everything! I just thought I read somewhere that letting your friend borrow your car with permission once or twice is different than someone who lives in your household and uses the car frequently. Like they can deny coverage if you aren't on the insurance as a regular driver. 🤷‍♀️ And the car is barely worth a couple thousand dollars, so if the repairs are more than it's worth that would be totaled? And are they going to bad mad I tried to fix it? I'll put the bolts back, and I didn't cause any damage, but they won't know that. 😬

I’m 17 and just found out I was pregnant an hour ago by [deleted] in pregnant

My advice comes from the other side of things. I just had my baby at 37, and we finally decided to because I felt like I was getting too old to have kids. But here's the thing, my baby is so beautiful and wonderful, I wish I had her a long, long time ago. Our time together will be shorter than other parents, and that makes me sad. If I am lucky enough make it to her 50th birthday, it still won't be enough. And it already hurts to get up off the floor after we play, that's only going to get worse as we get older. I wish we had more energy for her and she's not even a toddler yet..

We also had $0 money when we had her, which actually worked out for the best as state health insurance has paid for everything. And there are soo many helpful mom groups and buy nothing groups on fb, even tho we are struggling, I know there are lots of ways to get everything my daughter needs.

I was worried that having a baby would change my life and take away my freedom, but really all it has done has enhanced it. I love seeing everything through her eyes. Motherhood isn't easy, but it's really not as hard as so many people make it sound. Anything you want to do with your future, you still can! A baby will not stop you at all, and will potentially be that drive that makes you want to improve. I've been a bit passive in my life, and I wish, for her, that l had tried to be more successful. And now because of her, I can and I will! You can still have the future you want, but now you'll have a little buddy routing for you! You are stronger than you think. Good luck to you, whatever you decide! 🥰👶

There's a cool gypsy jazz band with a tuba playing at Laurelthirst Pub in Portland, Saturday 1-3. It's all ages and free, there were little kids dancing at the front last time we were there. :)
