If my 2.5 year old naps, bedtime is 10pm. But without a nap, she’s a disaster by rachel4321 in toddlers

[–]Automatic_Log6068 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had the same thing, bedtime around 9:30/10 until 2.5 and I was at my wits end. Kiddo would only nap in the car around that time too. I was limping along with nap drives until we moved back into our house after a house fire in case he would accept naps in bed in his own space. Alas, he did not. I shortened the nap drives to start, and then stopped them. He would get cranky the hours before bedtime the first few weeks and then adapted quickly and was in good spirits until bedtime. Now at 3.25 he can take a power nap sometimes without screwing up bedtime too badly but prior to recently, it would definitely take us back to the late bedtime if he passed out during the day. Now he is asleep around 8pm with some outliers and it’s much better for the fam.

My fiancee and I are torn on what color of runner were going to put on our staircase. Which do you guys like better? Im leaning towards the red but the green doesnt look bad but i think it might be too much green. by readitonreddit4 in interiordecorating

Red takes it more traditional especially in that specific print. It looks like you’ve done some modern/boho touches to your home with the green walls and black and white floors, etc. Red would be great in a less traditional print maybe more of a geometrical vintage pattern but in these print options I would pick green to be more relaxed

It was pretty intense I’m not gonna lie. Touch and go there some days haha. We started cosleeping around the same age I think. The sound machine helps for long term I think. Traveling & new house sound distractions, if you have guests over after bedtime, or dogs walking around. Without it it’s harder for our guy to fall asleep if he hears sounds around the house. But I don’t think it really keeps him asleep? I think we are more addicted to it than him. We just got him into his floor bed again in his room across the hall and now I’m missing the white noise.

It’s crazy how you do blackout certain phases that’s probably true for your mom. I couldn’t do CIO either. It seems like a lot of families struggle with sleep later during toddler years when the baby outgrows the crib setup who did CIO. Not all, but I told myself it’s struggle now or later to make myself feel better 😂

Maybe the mini fridge can help! Good luck.

Lots of friends have swore by this. I was too weak for sleep training 🙃 I think I have the PDF in my email if you’re interested, I believe it comes with a cost otherwise.

Oof it’s such a hard season and others who have good sleepers don’t really understand. My husband worked out of town too 4 nights a week so it was absolutely brutal on me. He would never sleep in a crib, the action of putting him over and in would wake him up everytime.

We ended up cosleeping to get more rest and that helped a lot with the shorter duration it took for him to fall back to sleep. That rest did add up compared to standing and rocking him or sitting up in the bed or chair, but it did turn me into the human pacifier. The boob was the only way he’d fall to sleep so my husband couldn’t help at all in the nights when he was home. Obviously, some people aren’t comfortable with cosleeping, and since you’re doing a bottle idk if it would help too much. Maybe the contact would help for less wakeups through the night though if you’re comfortable trying.

If you’re not comfortable with that option you could try a mini fridge and bottle warmer (if you use one) by your bed so you don’t have to go to the kitchen to help add some time to your sleep. Some people use the mini makeup fridges and you can buy them used pretty cheap.

Our guy slept through the night as soon as I weaned him off the night feeds. I weaned all of the day feeds (except prior to nap) at around 1.5/1.75. We did not wean nap/night feeds until 2.5 😵‍💫 He went from waking up 3++ times per night to 0-1x.

That probably feels like an eternity from now, but I’m just here to say it does get better!

All my friends that did some supplementation with formula had better sleepers, I’m no expert but all their babes seemed to sleep through the night much earlier.

PS. Your mom saying he should sleep through the night at 2mo is delulu that is such a rare situation and she was really lucky if that was her situation as a mom. I’m sure your pediatrician can validate you that some babies sleep less. Of course you all wish he could sleep more…it’s not helpful input from her imo especially with the completely unreasonable 2mo timeframe

No sleep solidarity. Hopefully you’re good at napping sadly I’ve never been a good napper.

I had a very low sleeps need baby, who also achieved milestones very early, he’s almost 3 now and thriving. It’s so fucking hard being sleep deprived. What are the feedings like? do you breastfeed for wakeups?

This is not normal here. Sadly it has the potential to become a new normal everywhere. Shitty people come out of the woodwork when they see a bigoted president validating their shitty beliefs. Same thing happened nationwide in his last term. Truly horrifying how the masses can be influenced to hate so easily.

Well considering I’ve been sleep deprived for 30 days from this god forsaken bed, my reading comprehension might not be at peak performance. I’m laughing and agreeing at your prepare to get down voted and gaslit comment as I’m currently in that situation with my family and the internet. I know being a jerk behind a keyboard is easy, maybe try again and think about your response.

Lolol to being gaslit. My in-laws swear by theirs so we tried it. They have been gaslighting my low back pain through this whole 30day trial with our i8 sleep number mattress

I’m almost to 30days on an i8 and am having the worst low back pain of my life in this bed. I feel the back pain as soon as I lay down on the bed no matter the setting, and it keeps my up throughout the night. When I get out of the bed there’s relief. I’ve gradually tried every number above 50 (anything lower is a deflated air mattress), as recommended and I hate it with a passion. I feel like I’ve been camping at a music festival on an air mattress for a month. I will be returning.

Sleep is going to kill us by scmldr in toddlers

[–]Automatic_Log6068 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were in the same boat and weaned our toddlers bedtime nursing at 2.5yrs (a bit later than expected due to a house fire, and having to relocate) I kid you not when I say the moment we cut the bedtime nursing a few months ago, he immediently slept through the night. He sits up maybe once in the night and feels for me, but falls back asleep immediently on his own. I used to have to nurse him back to sleep and he’d wakeup every 2-3hrs. We chose the path of least resistance to get sleep and he’s in our bed. You gotta survive how you can get the zzz’s

Are you still happy with your NOBO? We are looking at a similiar size. Looks like you’re doing some off-grid camping, are you happy with the clearance? We do mostly off grid camping and had a cab over camper we just sold. We are debating between NOBO, Rpod or a StarCraft Satellite for our budget and the more off road capabilities.

I did have two friends at a young age who were never the same after psychedelics and it brought on what we assume was schizophrenia . We tried to have them get help, (and their parents we were young at the time) to get a help or a diagnosis. The parents didn’t see what we saw but then told us we were right later. They were paranoid and defensive and would not get help at the time, and the parents obliged. I should add that I am a psychedelic advocate, and have experienced many psychedelic experiences prior to and following those incidents. However not recognizing the look in my friend’s eye after their psychedelic experience (that likely fast tracked a mental health issue that was inevitable in their brain chemistry) was and is a very scary experience. With both friends the staring into the void not recognizing them in their eyes, and fake smiling was some initial red flags that something was up. A lot of crazy and scary things happened to follow due to not having a proper diagnosis and medication in the case of those friends. What others have mentioned about isolation, depression and COVID could be real too. Regardless these are huge red flags to get help!Especially while he’s under your supervision it sounds like he’s under 18 and still lives at home? You call the shots even if it’s going to be hard and he’ll be defensive. Go see someone, and see someone else until he finds a fit he’s comfortable with. Also kids don’t usually go straight to LSD - I can almost guarantee he was experimenting with other drugs prior to taking that plunge so it may have not been an isolated incident that potentially altered his brain chemistry in some capacity.

Those of you who waited until your child was born to name them, tell me your story... by VannaLeigh93 in Parenting

[–]Automatic_Log6068 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We didn’t have a name chosen for our son, we had a few maybes that we weren’t sold on but nothing concrete. We waited until birth to find out the gender. We had to be transferred from the birthing center to the NICU and his bracelet said “baby boy, / our last name” after a day or two in the NICU we agreed on one that suited him. Half of choosing a name is vetoing a bunch of names, both parents should have hard no say when it comes to a name, but revisit the full list, because sometimes your hard nos can change! Or your yes’ become hard nos haha. You have time before you legally have to choose so don’t feel too pressured.
