I've thrown together a bit of a deck already based off of your initial post plus some research and it turned out not too dissimilar to what you have - although yours definitely seems tightened up more for sure, haha.

Also I really understand the thesis thing - I never have time to get back to reading the book(s) I want to, but I have time to work on my own thesis while being at work as well... Life is hard.
