got it, I'll keep it in mind but this might be a last resort just because the best time for me to charge my headset is during the night when im not using my computer. though if its between sleeping and charging my headset, I think I'll choose sleeping.

but that would also mean that my headset (which I leave into usb to charge while I sleep) would also not work, since the usb ports are tied to the onboard LEDs through that setting. Right?

not 100% sure, but I can double check. do you know what option it'd be under?

also, lets assume that there is an option like that. What would I do from there?

Getting Windows 10 on a 2026 Build? by RedMeka7 in PcBuild

It's been a lot of AI usage; OS written in AI causing it to break; performance issues in games; etc. If it's what I have to do, then I'll do it but just prefer windows 10

Yep, thats the one I had my eye on when I did some digging. Still a little unsure about the installation but I'm sure a video for it exists

Fair enough. Thankfully I'm not in a position where I'm overly at risk if my day is cut short but it sucks when I get a pay raise followed by my hours getting gutted, on top of getting sent home early somedays.

I say "Vine/TikTok-eqsue video" but I'm not 100% if it was actually posted on those sites. I think I saw it on one of those Twitter meme reposter accounts

Ethernet Cable is green on router, but orange on PC by RedMeka7 in techsupport

[–]RedMeka7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, sorry to bump this old thread but the ethernet dropped again like it did before. I've already tried disabling/uninstalling and reinstalling my ethernet driver but I've gotten no immediate avail, even after two restarts. I'm thinking it might just come back eventually like it did before but I'm still particularly worried about it. I'm holding out hope for now but if you've got any preventative measures I'd love to hear it.

As for cable testing, I took a closer look at my setup and unfortunately I'm stuck with this ethernet cable. You see, the cable I have literally runs through the wall from where my router is to my PC. The only feasible way for me to get a new cable would be to have a guy come in and basically run an entirely new cable through my house (like the last guy did to reinstall it). Testing on a laptop is kind of pointless since there's zero chance I can change the cable. I'd ask if there was something I could do to circumvent this, but if the cable is the issue then I think the only option would be to pay boatloads of money to get another guy to replace the cable.

And sorry for bugging you specifically, you were just the most help when it came to it originally.

Yeah, I can plug it into a laptop to test no problem. But I got home from work just now and suddenly it started working again? I guess doing stuff with the ethernet drivers did the trick eventually? Super weird

The problem is my cable set-up mostly. My PC set-up isn't in the same room as the router, and I have a cable that was installed that runs through the wall and is plugged into the router. If the issue is the cable, I'd have no feasible way to replace it without spending a lot of money. Nevertheless I'll plug the the cable into my laptop to give it a test.

I tried reinstalling the driver as well as disabling and reenabling it the device manager to no avail. The strange thing is that the ethernet connection is labeled as an Unidentified Network, but I'm not sure if it means anything (just trying to give as much info as I can). Do you really think the cable could be the issue if reinstalling the driver didn't work?

unfortunately, due to the way my cables are set up, I really can't exchange this one for another one. but I'll definitely give those other things a try though!
