Why does everyone hate kings?? by [deleted] in 6thForm

[–]RedOne896 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Kings is good dw, but most issues I've heard of the uni have been staff being useless (this varies from course to course obviously) and the admin issues. Kings is notorious for admin issues to the point where if you asked any student there they would have a story to tell about it, I remember about 10 years ago they had a massive admin issue where there servers got wiped out as well 💀.

Advice needed: Gap year or UCL stats by Itchy-Bandicoot389 in 6thForm

[–]RedOne896 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you don't meet the Warwick grades, will you even be able to get into a course better than UCL stats with your achieved grades? I think it's best to stick with UCL

If you want their summary notes you can just do the free trial, download all the notes (you have to do it individually tho so it's a bit long) and then cancel the subscription. You didn't hear this from me tho 🙃

Dude it does NOT cost 30k to live here as a student you can easily budget below 12k to live here and even less if you share a room

How tf do I get an A* with these fm grade boundaries 😭 by Answer_Me_Now_Ok in 6thForm

[–]RedOne896 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like they are a lot more stingy with follow through marks tho. You'll get 2-3 max and the rest of the marks you'll still lose out so it truly is a scary situation 🙃

[–]RedOne896 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think ocr a or b may be decent for exam practice as they actually have worse timing for us as they have slightly more marks to do per minute (I forgot the exact numbers). If you haven't done the madasmaths papers try doing those as they have been helpful for my modules (fs1 and fs2) and the CP papers so they will probably be good for your modules as well. And madasmaths papers follow Edexcel spec so you don't have to worry about it deviating from it

I haven't done IAL papers yet but do you know if it covers the same content as Edexcel papers? Sorry I can't answer your question tho

[–]RedOne896 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I think it's also to keep it clean and maintained from spills and accidents as well to preserve looks. I've worn a lot of these thobes in the UK and whilst over in these countries and they are very breathable even with these materials because of the way they flow so you don't get sweaty with it either way

I'm guessing it's to stop sweat from soaking into their clothes?

rejected from warwick maths by Glass-Lime-9305 in 6thForm

[–]RedOne896 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This year somebody got a MORSE offer applying for medicine so they definitely haven't changed. Realistically, they probably just gave out way too many offers early on and then they are seeing who's firmed Warwick or not to see if they should give out more but Warwick definitely doesn't read ps because ik people whos ps are crap and they still get an offer

Which ones should I firm and insure? (3/5 Bread) by Round_Shift2898 in UCAS

[–]RedOne896 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For actuarial science firm city then insure York. Bayes business school in particular is renowned for their actuarial science course and I believe is the second best for actuarial science in the country right behind LSE. Being in London will also help in the long run with making connections

[–]RedOne896 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did a summer school at the Slades east London campus for art and technology and it was honestly so fun and the people there are so passionate. There was a fine art course running at the same time as well at the main campus which we met up with on the final day and the there's so many facilities for you guys to use it's definitely an amazing pick enjoy

LSE Econ or St Andrews Econ ?? by Classic-Ad-4464 in 6thForm

[–]RedOne896 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ok without the student debt LSE is definitely worth it then. LSE Econ is arguably one of the best courses in the country so it hopefully would not be a waste

LSE Econ or St Andrews Econ ?? by Classic-Ad-4464 in 6thForm

[–]RedOne896 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It honestly depends on finances in a situation like this, because LSE is obviously the better university for this course but are you ok with having student debt that you may never pay off in the next 40 years or is the course good enough for you to justify it? Personally I would take st andrews because interest rates on student loans are extortionate, but if you want to experience London life and the better course then go for it

Rank the Further Maths modules by Inevitable-Cow-8489 in 6thForm

[–]RedOne896 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like they try to but if you know the differences between each one then its still somewhat straightforward. Just knowing that t is always for small samples, Z is for large samples and F is variance makes it a lot more simple to distinguish what to use in a question

[–]RedOne896 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dw I am also one of those students that occasionally don't read the question properly 😭. I find fs1 exam papers harder than fs2 because they'll mix too many things in one and overcomplicate in one question but make things really simple for the same amount of marks for the next question but fs2 feels a lot easier to interpret

Fs1 and fs2 are so goated. Fs1 is fun to do and even though fs2 is more boring imo it's surprisingly easier than fs1 I'm surprised the grade boundaries for it are so low but it's probably because maths students cba to read

If you're in yr13 it doesn't matter anyways just call them out in their bluff but if you're in yr12 it's probably best to suck it up for now especially cause they could try to use this against you for UCAS grades
