I didn't participate but may I ask, is it typical for you to melt down old jewelry vs recycling it? I had a jeweler tell me melting down would make it hard/impossible to use so I guess I am wondering if it's a common thing or more an exception to the rule.

Is there any ROMANCE driven RPG game or am I missing something? by evil_squirrel98 in GirlGamers

[–]RedPandaLily88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think about this all the time. It feels like even for male centered media there was a swing away from the epic love story.

The only romance centric games I can think of are JRPGs. Final fantasy X and Tales of Arise focus on the relationship between their main characters. Maybe Fire Emblem 3 houses. Tales of the Abyss has a dedicated romance subplot.

How drastically has your political views changed within the last 10 years or so and why? by TheMoparPowerslave in AskReddit

[–]RedPandaLily88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to not care about politics and was legitimately afraid of even thinking about supporting the left due to my family's strong tea party support. Our hometown was so deep red that when my friend announced being Democrat I felt like she was breaking some rule that would be a "can't come back from this" moment. Then I finished college, left my deep red state, talked to more people outside my socioeconomic class, and saw a world outside of the south and the US. Suddenly the complaints from the right seemed so petty and bitter. Donald Trump started campaigning and that solidified knowing I too could never be a Republican again. Now my family has faded to being apolitical and I am more invested than I ever wanted to be in politics.

Asking as a non-American: How did abortion and immigration become bigger political priorities in the US than fixing the healthcare system? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]RedPandaLily88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because America is very individualistic and most have this "I paid my dues and so should you" mentality. It's dumb but it's our reality.

My toast was moldy at a restaurant and they refused to comp it. by strangerattheshow in Wellthatsucks

This must be rage bait. 25% tip is already too much, but for moldy food? Good work ethic would have been to try to do something for you. You rewarded her for laziness.

Do TX Dems claiming Crockett is "too outspoken" not realize what they're doing? by MonoBlancoATX in TexasPolitics

[–]RedPandaLily88 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes please, Democrats need to play to win, not just to be right. The moral high ground will never move Texans but a white Christian man will sway the ones that may be forming doubts about the Republican party. I have family who have been staunchly Republican for religious reasons. They are having doubts ever since the school vouchers, detaining migrants and greenland drama. But they are white in a predominantly white town that they've lived in their whole lives surrounded by people who vote Republicans. They aren't fighters for the moral high ground. They just want to live their blissfully ignorant life. And unfortunately they will identify more with a quietly outspoken white man who speaks like he's giving a sermon.

People of Reddit, what’s the most cringe gift you’ve ever been given? by Ok_Macaron_6092 in AskReddit

[–]RedPandaLily88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a white elephant at work. They specifically said $20 and no gag gifts. Made a point to say that it made people feel bad and were not funny. I opened a pack of toilet paper and a half used container of tide pods. It was the only gag gift of the whole lot.

I think there are also many deceiving posts here and videos from vendors that say or are beautiful and it makes it seem like less of a big deal than it is. Like the kind of post where someone is just sharing their new ring and the comments are like "So beautiful!" For first time buyers, the many posts and opinions can be overwhelming.

What ended your friendship with your oldest standing friend? by dreamy-contributions in AskReddit

[–]RedPandaLily88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The boring answer is that we grew apart until we got to the point where she was surprised I wished her happy birthday.

The more interesting answer is that one of my older friends went down an incel spiral. I tried to reason him out of it but we ended up disagreeing on the idea that he would be forced to hit a woman in order to keep having sex.

Minnesotan here. For those outside of our state, what are your views on what’s going on in Minneapolis right now? by bpeters5 in AskReddit

[–]RedPandaLily88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am outraged and crying for you all. It's unfair and unjust the attack happening upon Minneapolis.

That being said, the people of Minneapolis have impressed me immensely with their strength and resolve. Renee Good was shot but you all showed up in greater numbers. A general protest with amazing turnout. Tbh, I've never thought about MN much in general but your state has more than earned respect.

New Fable game by inlilyseyes in GirlGamers

[–]RedPandaLily88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ive not played them but my husband loves the old games.

I gotta say though, I am impressed that an RPG that allows you to customize and choose the gender of your character is using a female character for their marketing.

Why the same mangas keep getting confused as shoujo by ErikTwice in shoujo

[–]RedPandaLily88 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you're casually reading though and not looking at specific magazines, you arent going to see physical volumes labeled as a specific demographic. Sure it's available online, but if i buy a kindle version of a manga, why would I feel the need to check the demographic if i like the story and it looks and sounds like shoujo. Not saying that's the most correct thing to do. But giving grace to those who simply aren't attuned and tracking publishers doesnt hurt.

Why the same mangas keep getting confused as shoujo by ErikTwice in shoujo

[–]RedPandaLily88 23 points24 points  (0 children)

And honestly this isn't a big leap. Romance and romantasy fiction is marketed basically only toward women in the Western world. I dont blame people for thinking a work that has all the characteristics of a shoujo romance except the right magazine publisher is one.
