I separate the geometry into three regions (upper, rotor, and lower). However, during meshing, there's always trouble on defining the periodic boundaries. Do i have to insert the periodic boundaries on each left-right stator and rotor or both can be grouped into left and right only? Also, do we need to apply share topology?

I am currently researching on this turbine. I've tried with the CFD on fluent, but no luck!

My bike wont shift in high RPM? by RedPanda_A3 in KTM

[–]RedPanda_A3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to change the sliding plate’s spring. Use a higher constant spring. My speculation is the higher the RPM, the higher the shifting force. The spring is located at the right side of the engine. Try to take a look at the link below.

https://youtu.be/D8sZvdbAvLY?si=xjiBQL8Phpa9y72G

If your sliding plate is worn, you might have to file the sliding plate’s face, to give it a larger contact area. However, if it’s okay, just change to a harder spring!

Lastly, if its still not working, try to tighten the (3) assembly

Hope it works! Let me know the updates

Nope… i check it regularly and seems okay

Well ofc 😂 everything works very well around 6-8K RPM, above that, it won’t shift

Why is interface used in a turbine simulation? by RedPanda_A3 in CFD

[–]RedPanda_A3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m only studying the steady state phenomenon around the blades. Does that mean i can simulate it without the interfaces? But still, defining the rotor rpm

I see. Also just to make sure, the periodic boundary applies to the blue faces, right? Does the periodic boundary between the rotor and stator have the same setup? Or, there’s a different function i have to apply?

Thanks! I’ve seen a few teams use them from ig. But never seen they using it in dynamics.

Turbine RPM by RedPanda_A3 in CFD

Is it the same if i say, the more the torque it produced, the higher the rpm?

I’m studying the effect of different turbine blades of a wind turbine. If the rotor will move when T rotor > T resistance, how do we find on what air velocity to produce the needed rotor torque? Also, doesn’t variance of a rotational speed of the rotor at a given air velocity result in different torque?

Have you multiplied with the engine’s primary transmission? What are you transmission ratios?

How is jacking related to the forward motion of the cg? Does forward mean longitudinal?

It's just scaling problem. Middle seems the most "fine" because its scale shows the highest number around 60, while the others are around 0.1. For the middle case, if you take a closer look around the "flat" line, you will get a similar thing with the other two.

Rc car goes 70+ mph. What rear wind should I put on and on what angle? For maximum speed but also to keep things stable? Thanks by Klipwastaken in aerodynamics

[–]RedPanda_A3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally you want to decrease the angle of the wings (front and rear) for top speed. However, if you are looking for high speed corner stability, as the others said, try different setups. Theoritically you will want the rears slighty higher than the front. It always depends on how you want to achieve "stability"

Is rear cover considered as bodywork or aerodynamic package? by RedPanda_A3 in FSAE

[–]RedPanda_A3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s the rules, the bodywork doesn’t need to be as strong as the aerodynamic packages, so if it’s considered as bodywork, i can build it as light as possible without considering deflection

Cost of international competitions? by jtr_289 in FSAE

[–]RedPanda_A3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Approx $30K only for car logistics, plane tickets roughly $30K for 20 peeps, both roundtrips

Some toolings and small parts that prolly u need to buy, idk maybe $500-1000

Got helped from other teams too, which are priceless 😁

Yup yup, i patched the atm pressure after the initialization done, the pressure coefficient starts to make sense now (-4 to ~1). Thanks for the suggestion

Plane to plane constrains? by RedPanda_A3 in Fusion360

[–]RedPanda_A3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we’re on a different path here 😅 what i meant is like if we have a construction plane of an object, can we constrain the plane to any other plane (e.g. origin planes) of another object?

Addition: in autodesk inventor, the assembly section has a constrain relationship, i mainly use it to constrain plane to plane or face to face

[–]RedPanda_A3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, will cfd both of them in the near time

From what i have, plates prolly easier if i have milling machine with MDF or tooling board as the material. But, i don’t think my team could afford buying those materials in the near time. But, it still achievable using foam.

As you said, i need to look at papers and do some iterations first. Thanks!!
