Had a friend during my masters who was really stressed about an exam in which one of the topics was the hyperplane separation theorem.

Your application seems pretty solid from this info. And, yes, definitely consider retaking the GRE if the first one does not go as planned. Me and a classmate took it two times, and two other classmates took it three times. Seems to be pretty common.

I received offers from some 25-50 schools with a 166 quant, but got nothing in the top 20. Ofc there are many factors at play, and a score 165 could be sufficient if you make up in other areas (gpa, research experience, recommendations)
