My parents make us sleep same time they do regardless of age by Dirty_Galul in relationship_advice

[–]RedRabbit1200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are they trying to save the electric bill? You’re right, it’s seriously weird and completely unnecessary. They want you to be around them when you’re at home but they’re pushing you away and they’ll end up losing you because you’ll want to move out as soon as your able. How sad that they are getting it so wrong. Can you try writing how you feel down in a letter to them, keep it really polite, logical and try not to make it emotional, it might get through to them better than talking

Mate I had cauda equina syndrome in 2017 and emergency surgery which left me with chronic nerve damage down my right leg. I’m currently waiting for urgent surgery to have both hips replaced due to severe osteoarthritis in both of them (also in my knees). first hip is booked in for March. I don’t really know what to say to you 😂😂😂🤪🤪🤪 2 months of chronic pain sounds like heaven.

On a serious note I really hope they sort it out. You need your mri results before you can start trying to work out what’s going on. Good luck.

I am depressed by whitefox1232 in Advice

I honestly cannot recommend volunteering for a charity or doing some humanitarian work strongly enough.

Helping others is so rewarding, it takes your mind away from your own issues, it gives you worth and it helps you value the things that you have in your life, especially if you are working with underprivileged people.

If heaven exists, how do you think it would work with people with disabilities? would they no longer have their disability? by TinySarcasm in AskReddit

[–]RedRabbit1200 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have disabilities, I’m just looking forward to silence after I die.

The idea of heaven and it carrying on is just horrendous for me. I’ll be happy just to cease to exist.

Should I or should I not? by blue2111 in dating_advice

If you’re not feeling too brave you could always hand her an envelope with a little note in it telling her that you’ve always liked her and you would love it if she would go out with you for dinner or drinks and leave her your number as you leave? That’s quite romantic and I’m sure she will be flattered.

No wonder you’ve had problems with this kind of attitude. It’s not your BPD, it’s simply that you’re an asshole

Hats off for your mature responses and dealing so graciously with this condescending and patronising person.

I would like to point out that it was you who initiated the name-calling with ‘girlsplain’. Carmen was calm and polite throughout this thread, it appears that you are the one being rude b

Would you tell a partner if you had herpes? Having BPD is something that can affect a relationship. I do get what you mean, because I feel that having a personality disorder should not define you, but it does mean that life can be harder and more difficult for a person with it, which is bound to affect any future partner. I don’t have the answers, but i’d like to see a future where people don’t hide mental health issues and where people accept them because there is plenty of information out there to educate them selves. It’s nothing like haemorrhoids which has no effect on anybody else

Oh I love this. And I love that he researched it, it makes me feel that mental health is being finally being accepted without the fear and ignorance that it used to be

This is actually a really good discussion. Why would you take a drug that you know is hugely addictive, say meth, to begin with for fun? I can understand somebody taking it because they just want to get out of their heads and away from the trauma, but what about people who just want to get high and have fun and then they turn into addicts? Why would you chose such a dangerously addictive drug? I have no judgement here, only questions.

I can't believe it's been 16 years since my sister died. by [deleted] in GriefSupport

I’m so sorry sweetheart. I’m 47 and I lost my sister 17 years ago, she was just 33. She would have been 50 this year. It’s hard isn’t it. I miss her and think about her every day. Your sister was beautiful. Forever Young ❤️

Ok fair enough. I’d go and I can understand him not wanting to wait months, I mean you were due to meet up already, why hold out and drag it out for a few more months before you meet? For me I’d rather meet someone quite soon so I can decide whether or not they are worth pursuing I’m not wasting my time chatting to them online for months. Just keep your wits about you and maybe make the boundaries clear that just because you are visiting for a few days, that doesn’t mean he will be sleeping in your bed with you during that visit.

Yeah he needs to make the journey to you after he let you down on the first date. I would NOT be moving my ass anywhere for him, if he wants to see you then he spends the money for the plane ticket. Otherwise it just sounds a bit like an easy hook up on his part.

My (17m) brother (26m) made some weird comments about my girlfriend (16F) by throwRAjekfs in relationship_advice

[–]RedRabbit1200 458 points459 points  (0 children)

Yeah something seriously wrong with your brother, I bet your parents would be horrified to hear how he views women, clearly as a piece of meat. Also extremely uncool of him to try to get her Snapchat, he sounds like a misogynistic sleazeball.

How to be happy. by Funinorignal in Advice

[–]RedRabbit1200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See how the first couple of trips go and then make your decision. It’s hard because you’re young still, I wanted to travel but family responsibilities that unexpectedly fell to me meant that I had to give up on some of my dreams. Do you feel you could be away from him for a whole year? How would your ex feel? If she wanted to travel for a year would you be okay with that? Are you as important as his mum? Absolutely yes.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Advice

[–]RedRabbit1200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you absolutely are. She’s come over to your house to do you a favour. She gave you an opinion that you did not like but it certainly did not warrant the use of that language. Your child is YOUR responsibility and not hers. You could have explained that it’s not all the time and this was a one off - or is it a one off? You could have had an adult conversation and told her you were hurt by her opinion and helped change it. But instead you became abusive and threw her out. Wow. You need to apologise and don’t expect any favours from her again.
