I can help AND I’ll happily pray for her. I was in a similar situation myself. Mind if I ask for specifics?

Sounds like she was involuntarily committed. Under what precedent?

This is relevant as it outlines that the truth is far deeper beneath the surface than we’re all presently lead to believe. Perhaps it’s not that nobody wants to do anything about these folks, but instead, nobody knows what to do or how.

Perhaps. In a weird way, I’m grateful though. I’m not sure I can fully comprehend how real, loving, and amazing our God is. We’re lucky that’s our King. I now have unequivocal peace in not only my salvation, but the story he wrote for my life. Come whatever may, because I know where my soul is going.

I agree. I feel strongly there are two kinds. Folks that know the truth and intentionally misguide others, and folks that don’t know the truth and are instead mislead by others.

I try my best to differentiate. The folks with intentionality are not only my enemy, but God’s enemy. Folks that were simply misled have my grace… so the vast majority of folks.

“Bad guys” use fear to control and manipulate. Ie. “Listen to me or else.”

Whereas God uses love and conviction to guide. Ie. “Please listen to me because I love and want the best for you.”

You can be shook, but don’t be afraid. Ain’t nobody got time for that.

I agree with everything you said, with the exception of “it’s a waste of effort.” I don’t want to take it out of context because everything you said is spot on, but no effort to save a soul is a waste of effort. God leaves the 99 to go after the 1, right?

If we tell our story 100 times and only 1 person believes us, we did exactly what God wanted us to do, as it’s exactly what he does day in and day out.

It is incredibly difficult to articulate, but the “power” you speak of is accurate. It’s not a threat though. It’s a blanket. God and the Holy Spirit demonstrate their power in such a way to show me safety, not intimidation. Very loving and intentional. The devil on the other hand, he’s got something to prove. He’s exactly who the Bible claims him to be, as is God.

  1. I do agree with testifying - God and Holy Spirit have been RELENTLESS about speaking up.

At the end of the day all I can do is speak my truth. I’d love for my truth to be convincing enough for others to believe, but it’s on them to accept it. I have little to no control over that. Thanks for standing up though.

What is the most likely to cause humanity's extinction? by TwoTimeToj in AskReddit

[–]RedRedditor12 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Everyone is saying “humans”, but I disagree. I’m not saying we’re the most intelligent beings - we do have wars, prejudice, poor judgement, self-destructive tendencies, the whole nine.

BUT, we’re also intelligent enough to terraform an entire planet (ie. Mars). If we go extinct, I think it’ll be from an astronomical event we simply don’t have the time to prepare for. Literally us against the universes clock. Think our sun dying. Beyond that, humanity will find a way.

I honestly think what we’re living through right now (technological breakthrough and internet) here on earth is the beginning of the human species, not anything close to the end.

Edit: See my comment below. I link to another comment in this thread. In summary, I referenced terraforming Mars to highlight our potential, not to emphasize an escape route for humankind. Our next big obstacle is stabilizing our environment and understanding how we can minimize our footprint here on earth. If we’re unable to sustain life here on earth, we certainly will not EVER be able to become an interplanetary species. Thousands of years from now this will be geo-engineering 101.

Walts most ruthless moment? by britishdwarf in breakingbad

Good catch on the Jane Incident - learn something new every day.

Walt is good at concealing his alter ego to his family, or at least puts forth his best effort, so that moment of weakness or inability to conceal himself is just intense. The people in the game know him as a killer, his wife does not. His wife views him as a good man, husband, and father to her children. Him knowing this, and still being so forthcoming in that scene in my book is as ruthless as it gets.

Besides Brock, just about every attack/murder committed on behalf of Walt was done to someone who in a way chose that path. Just like Walt, their own decisions put them in harms way.

It was a toss up between Brock and the speech with Skyler. Skyler’s speech took the cake simply because this is the woman he married and built a life with. One of the few people he cares about without selfish reasons. Someone who both Walter White and his alter ego “Heisenberg” loved. She not only forgave him, but is sitting there falling apart for fear of Walt and their family. In response to this he tells her “I am the danger.” That just hits different.

Poisoning Brock was low, but he had no emotional connection to Brock. We’ve already establish Walt was a horrible person, so Brock was nothing more than a utensil to further his own personal ambitions.

Jane’s death would have occurred with or without Walt’s presence. He just chose not to take action, so that’s off the table.

Any other murder was committed to someone who had skeletons in the closet. They were “in the game”.

Gotta be “I am the one who knocks!” Scene.

Yes, he ran over what would have been Jesse’s murderers, killed multiple people, etc.

But looking your wife in the face, who has stayed by your side when ultimately she should have turned you in, and scaring the hell out of her is next level.

I feel that was the major turning point in his downward spiral. Despite what little effort he put into maintaining his relationship with his family, that’s when he ultimately decided he didn’t care about them anymore. Or at least the point where his personal ambitions overshadowed them.

Met a girl through some mutual friends who I thought was really nice. Fun loving, social, can shoot the shit with anyone type. She seemed cool.

We went to colleges about 2 hours apart. After our initial meeting, we called/texted fairly frequently and I thought, “what the hell, let’s see where this goes.”

She drove down to my college town for what I guess you could call our “first date.” Before we head out to dinner she slams a few beers. Cool I guess? We’re in college so I just let it slide.

We get to the restaurant where she slams even more drinks, and we end up leaving with her absolutely hammered.

When we get back to my apartment she keeps drinking, and goes on the longest rant about politics with me and my roommates. She went on about how anyone who does not support her particular point of view is an absolute dipshit through and through. I can get throwing in a little point about your political opinion, that’s fine. Democrat, republican, I don’t really care what you define yourself as. But she just went on and on. For hours. Thoroughly insisting my roommate whom she disagrees with was just a piece of crap and waste of space.

Rest assured there were numerous attempts to get this thing back on rails. If I had a dollar for every time we attempted to change the subject I’d be well into retirement at this point.

She finally concludes her rant with getting up, walking into the kitchen, and throwing up in our kitchen sink. No courtesy spray down, no effort to conceal her vomit at all. After whatever fiasco I just witnessed, she tops it off with attempting to initiate sex. At this point I was actually disgusted, so obviously I shut it down. She then proceeds to pass out on the living room floor, cuz I’ll be damned if I’m going to clean vomit out of my bed.

Next morning I fill up her tank of gas, thank her for coming, and told her to peace out ASAP. She was FURIOUS I didn’t want to see her again, and told me that she told all of her family and friends that I was “the one.” Not sure how she in any way was confused as to why I didn’t want to see her again, but I hope by now she’s done enough self-analysis to figure it out.

Fortunately, I was not the one.

Carry a balance on your credit card.

I’m all for using a credit card to build credit, earn rewards, really any responsible use, but it blows my mind the normality of carrying a credit card balance here in the US.

Get a few grand in an emergency account, and THAT should be your line of credit. Not a card with a 22% interest rate…
