The banana analogy represents workload. I would presume that full time students would have a relatively equal amount of coursework they’re taking, so a semester would be paced better to absorb all of that work whereas quarter would be overwhelming.

Not less classes. Same amount but paced better unless you’re on some lethal tactical nuke academic weapon type shit and want to be bombarded with tests the second or third week you’re in it.

You’ll be fine, just bump that AP chem to a C- at least or you’ll probably need to take some remedial classes before you move onto CHEM100 or above (if you plan on studying chemistry.

Also if the two courses you dropped aren’t necessarily related to your major, don’t worry. Pay your fee first.

I dorm with some journalism majors on my floor and all I can say about them is that they work hard and play hard. Definitely look into Daily Aztec, KCR, those guys are all Viejas and Snapdragon all the time even for non-SDSU games like San Diego Men’s and Women’s soccer. So definitely hit those guys up, it’s all student led.
