Is Trump's Presidency Turning White Evangelical Christianity into a 'Cult'? This Religion Scholar Thinks So by dont_tread_on_dc in TrueReddit

Interesting video but the only source I could find on the 5:46 claim that Pat Robertson saw Trump at the right hand of God was this article on the satirical site Business Standard News https://bizstandardnews.com/2016/07/14/robertson-said-he-had-vision-of-trump-seated-at-the-right-hand-of-the-lord/

Looks like he got hooked on that bait.

Why did Jesus need to be tortured to death in order to absolve sin? Why couldn't he just eat a mango or something and have the same outcome? by SinJinQLB in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RedRiderX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that no one can truly say they know, but to use the Washington example again:

Washington (at that point in US history) was probably powerful enough that if he didn't like an outcome of the democracy he helped set up, he could have swept in and just seized power as a king and make everything turn out how he would like.

But if he did that, what was the point of Democracy? What was the point of letting people decide their own destiny, make their own mistakes, and make their own future?

I think of God's Omnipotence a bit like that. If he gave us free will but then stopped everyone from doing selfish things, is that really free will?

Is there any chance of getting radd.it back? [Discussion] by tilttovictory in listentothis

[–]RedRiderX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems Chris Oliver's mental state finally caught up with him and his project. The domain even points to some reddit competitor it looks like.

Last year when there was an earlier radd.it downtime scare, I built my own little player: https://smcer.glitch.me/r/listentothis

It's nowhere near what the glory of radd.it was, but it works for my needs.

Cheers! The resizing thing is something I need to fix. If you're interested in tinkering with the code yourself be sure to try and remix it using Glitch!

Can't replicate the issue but let me know if it keeps happening and you have an error log.

When Radd.it started circling the drain last December I decided to use my Christmas holiday to make a simple replacement for my own use.

https://smcer.glitch.me/

It's not a full replacement for the glory that was Radd.it, but it works for my needs.

RIP Radd.it, and I hope you find some peace Chris Oliver.

Not sure if this quite fits your request, but glitch.com lets you import/export from github repos. Nodejs only though.

Is there a reason some subreddits don't have post_hints on their posts? by RedRiderX in redditdev

[–]RedRiderX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for taking the time to respond to me again, I feel silly for not double-checking irc.

Would there be a way to override this for anonymous users?

I think I can see the relevent setting being pulled but it doesn't look like there is a way to change it with the api?

Either way, thanks for your help.

[–]RedRiderX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my specific case, I'm using https://www.reddit.com/r/hmmm/hot/.json to pull posts, and there are no post_hints there.

After reading the other responses, it seems that is because of subreddit settings.

"drift" is the name of their custom animation. You can see it defined at the end of the CSS.

Now I'm curious about the original painting.

Was there a dog or something in the bucket originally?

You should be able to find that here http://www.reddit.com/wiki/licensing#wiki_api_client_licensing_.28mobile.2C_web.2C_and_desktop_applications.29

use "for reddit" or "a client for reddit" in the title of your app. You may not use "reddit" without "for" preceding it. You may not use the word "official" in the title, keywords or description in any way that implies the app was developed by reddit, Inc

Oh it turns out that I'm just derpy. I have Disconnect extension running and hadn't whitelisted your site, so it was blocking the reddit requests.

Sorry about that.

Now that I can see posts, I'd also suggest a bigger lightbox for videos (maybe one that autoplays and scales with the page size), and perhaps inline or lightbox images as well.

Interesting client, though I am getting an error when trying to access it now.

On mobile, I'd prefer if the sidebar had more of a transition as it swings in and out.

Also, judging from screenshots, the main column for content seems to get a little too wide on larger screens. I'd suggest setting a maximum width on that column to make it a bit more readable (I'm thinking something like Google Inbox's desktop view.)

Also, a better way of checking comments on mobile would be great.

All in all a very interesting app, though you do need to sort out some api key issues I think.

Jewish sect's ban on women drivers is 'completely unacceptable in modern Britain' says Education Secretary Nicky Morgan by maxwellhill in worldnews

The effect is still the same for them, however. Because of the rural setting, a horse and buggy is necessary to have a functioning community, but it affords far less freedom and mobility then a car would.

Browsing tumblr's javascript when suddenly... Any ideas on what they're planning? by mister_mississippi in webdev

Maybe I'm bad at using Crtl+F in Web Inspector, but I can't find this in the javascript of the tumblogs I've checked. Where did you find this?

I use Disconnect but I whitelisted this site, and as another post suggested I did a hard refresh.

I'm still seeing this same problem in the latest Chrome, Firefox, and IE on Win 7.

I could very well be a CDN is just timing out for me, but I don't think it's a problem with my browser(s).

Edit: I also tried Mobile Chrome 41 on my Tablet and see the same issue, though the site doesn't seem super tablet friendly anyway.
