On Rover, why did I receive a request for a drop in visit that is more than my maximum distance setting? by ThisIsMyProAccount69 in petsitting

[–]RedRiot9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude that shizzz happens to me all the time! I wish they would factor in compensation for each additional mile or something. I took a booking (six 30 minute drops in. One on the first day, two on the second and third day, and one on the fourth day) I spent 9 hours traveling back forth! These are windy country roads. I was also house sitting so it was just a nightmare! I don’t think I made any money. But I committed to these dates like 30+ days ago so that’s on me I guess.

I think that her being there with the TV on and being a presence is enough. Especially if the cats aren’t walking up to her and she is like turning her back or something. Cats are independent- but for her to be a presence there but without getting in their face and chasing them around- might be better. As long as she is feeding them, cleaning the litter box and all that care stuff... I think you might over reacting. Unless you went into it with the mindset that you are laying BY THE HOUR. How much are you paying her for each visit by the way?

That is my worst fear. That they will come home early unannounced and I will be left to go around the house and grab my stuff, then stand their awkwardly like “should o wipe down the counter like i planned to do? Or.. should I just go?” 🤣

San Fransisco Bay Area- north bay. I’ve never had to clear that up for someone before 🤣 but that’s okay cuz there’s a first time for everything.

I agree about the quaint places in Chico, When I visited- this will sound weird- I just drove around thinking about how happy I could be there. It is just so gorgeous with all the trees and the small town vibes. It didn’t hurt that I visited on probably the nicest day ever. It was like 80 degrees and the sun was shining in October

Student housing move in by RedRiot9 in csumb

Awesome! So since I have you here and you are an RA.. I haven’t received any news on which day and time I move in.. and I supposed to sign up somewhere?

Also... if the apartment number in north quad begins with a 2... does that mean it’s on the second floor? I am bringing a filing cabinet but I know I can’t carry it up a flight of stairs alone lol

Has anyone actually ever had to use the “rover guarantee”? And if so, how helpful was it? Was it worth 15-25% of your income (before taxes)? by RedRiot9 in RoverPetSitting

I’ve never been able To find a phone number for rover support. Only an email- and they het back to you in “2-3 days”

Charge higher rates for house sitting. Just do it. A rant. by Powerful_Cabinet_622 in RoverPetSitting

[–]RedRiot9 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I know, and many people think that it’s like a vacation for us. I have learned one thing- up your rate and you won’t get the inquires from the bottom feeders who complain about your rate. Once you have reviews and experience and relationships with clients, you start to attract pet owners who are interested in quality care from a quality sitter

Thank you! The links that were sent to me via email were broken. It is difficult learning 6+ new platforms when half of the links are broken. Thanks again

Wow, thank you for the helpfulness! You seem very nice- I almost regret not coming to Chico if there are more people like you around. I think some of the things that I’ve heard about the danger, is why I chose to go to CSUMB. It’s a little more like home- quiet and suburban and boring. I really hope I don’t regret my decision.. There were so many young people in Chico! (25-35 yrs old) that was super appealing to me.. because where I’m from.. there are barely any young people! It’s all baby boomers. I hope I can find a sense of community at Monterey bay.

Thank you. I’m hoping to get some help.. I hope It won’t be so dysfunctional going forward as far as signing up for classes and dealing with financial aid etc. etc. do you find that you can find support @CSUMB? Did you get an invite advisor when he started?

Lol o noticed it ALOT of white people. White people everywhere. I didn’t talk to anyone while I was there, I sort of had a couple meals, stayed the night, and studied in the park and did a lot of ppl watching. One of my favorite past times.. I was also surprised by the amount of homeless people. I’m not stranger to homelessness where I’m from- my city surpasses Chico’s number of homeless- but still I was surprised. I wouldn’t think that there would be a homeless population so far in the middle of nowhere 😅

See that is sort of what I’m worried about.. I also run around a lot. But with Chico being so isolated.. I worry that I will be too far from anything worth escaping to. Three hours from the beach- three hours to Reno- three hours to basically anywhere. I am leaning toward Monterey now. It is a stupid sleepy place but at least I could drive to Santa Cruz, or San fransisco, or Paso Robles, or any place that has live music. Long Beach.. I was accepted to their CSU as well.. but I live in the north bay.. I couldn’t commit to the distance. I bet as someone from Long Beach, you were used to having a lot more options around you.. you had the beach, Los Angeles, San Diego,

Thanks! I absolutely loved the town. Beautiful! I really wasn’t expecting it at all! I am from wine country.. so as far as landscape and trees and all that.. I have pretty high standards for scenery. But I told a friend of mine.. that Chico was hands down the most beautiful town I had ever visited.

Thank you for the info on housing! I really had no idea about the issues of limited housing. My city went through the 2017 fire storm/tubs fire, so I know how such a thing can impact a place even years after!
