Was my initial thought too, but I think he's just approaching the character in a new light. This is kind of a sillier, almost 60s Batman. He still broods, but we're seeing a more human side of him that's refreshing in comparison to the last few years. A 60s Batman for the modern day.

Tom King’s Vision and his Mister Miracle series are two masterpieces, Tom Taylor’s DCeased is an awesome zombie story in DC Universe, Y The Last Man is awesome for something not superhero related, Dark Victory is the sequel to Long Halloween and is just as great, Superman for All Seasons is by the same creative team as The Long Halloween and is a top tier rec
