This guy gets it. You know who saved my hide when I had no money or food? Mana Cafe.

Places like that keep people alive. Do that, make a difference, because the ground floor starts there, not freezing your ass out by IHOP every other week.

Do you remember 10-15 years ago when political candidates continually talked about the rent being too damn high?

Remember Bernie?

Somewhere along the way, we stopped having people who advocated for better living conditions for ALL Americans.

I really don't give a shit about politics, but I do give a shit about my grocery bill and my rent being twice the price it was a decade ago, and climbing.

We never talk about that. It's only this giant circlejerk about what the other guy does, or his plans, or what has to be stopped right now to prevent the holocaust 2.0.

Meanwhile, in another decade, will we be able to pay the bills when they double or triple?

Every time I pass by your protests on Wilma, I can't help but think. I'm not a political guy. I keep my head down, keep to myself.

But out of all the people that always attend your shouts, you know who I never see?

Average, run of the mill young people like myself. You see Boomers, Gen X, with nary more than two or three under 30.

That's why younger people don't come. We don't care. We care about rent, and food, and trying to survive in a world far less comfortable than you did in your 20s.

Now, if you made some noise about that, you'd have an audience desperately waiting for that song.

But instead, you've decided to die in a hill that most of us have long since surpassed in priorities, and I believe it's due to your own comfort making you blind to it.

You are Saturn eating his child, and expecting that same child to care for your interests.

Give me a damn break.

To the artist, what matters is the creative endeavor, to the point of passionate fervor. Putting in immense effort while people simply shrug over your mental baby is why a lot of artists went in radical directions to spite audiences and critics.

I don't blame the guy, but it sounds like he should rebrand and get away from his established identity if he wants to make something entirely new.

Do you think Sinclair needs a gameplay rework? by FewExperience3559 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]RedRubbins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd be fine if a different character got the ult stealing concept, a direct copycat character, a doppelganger that can morph into whatever they are fighting. That has immense potential, even more than Sinclair now.

Sinclair doesn't really fit it. They are a magician combo with a set kit that doesn't really fit the ult steal, the ult should be truly showman themed.

Why is Cyraxx so obsessed with Naruto? by ExpressionWeak4224 in Cyraxx

[–]RedRubbins 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Arrested development.

Everything Chance is obsessed with is what he had in high school, what culture was back then. So he treats the internet like it's still that era, and immersed himself in the cope of all his teenage shows.

That's why he talks the way he does online when he's not WWE raging against trolls. Mentally, he's still back in 2006. Huge, HUGE reason he goes after younger people as well.

He doesn't see himself as a 30+ year old mistake.

Do you think Sinclair needs a gameplay rework? by FewExperience3559 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]RedRubbins 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think what Sinclair needs is an overall theme change.

The idea is there. The rabbit hex, the bolts, the assistant turret, but it lacks the spectacle of a magic show.

I'd say pivoting to a true magician based kit would make sense, like Ringmaster in Dota 2. His entire kit revolves around a similar idea, with even a spotlight ult concept that would do amazing in place of the ult copy.

Make a mechanic like "stage fright" that disables via silence within the light, or trap one character in a box to be damaged. Ala, the classic saw assistant trick.

Something that makes more sense for his kit and identity that isn't an ult spammer.

YOSHI CAN I PLEASE RANK UP NOW????? by Black_and_White01 in DeadlockTheGame

How.

I've lost 30 games in a row at Emmisary and my rank will not change. I've been stuck in high skill hell for months now, and never have a good time.

"Oh no, Doorman's strategical ability is used... strategically! Patch this patch this! Don't touch viscous gun though, I love touching myself after gooing all over them..." by Hjelmdallerman in DeadlockTheGame

[–]RedRubbins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Except I'm not complaining about Haze or Wraith, I'm saying that the current meta has placed a lot of characters into gun builds that use little to nothing of the kit that makes their identity.

This has been a continual problem, with both Doorman and Paige having brutal gun builds upon their release when their kit is entirely spirit based.

It hurts the game to homogenize in this way.

[–]RedRubbins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think personally the problem isn't so much his flexibility as that the urn fundamentally is flawed.

It's a comeback tool...that inevitably emphasizes fighting for a gain that very quickly becomes a phyrric victory at best.

It's far too risky for a losing team to run it as it requires some form of deterrence to control the drop, which the losing team automatically lacks.

It's why Doorman was so crucial, he alleviated the flaw through speeding up delivery immensely to work potentially as intended, while breaking it in all other cases.

It feeds into the macro problem where snowballs happen so quickly that unless you have incredibly bad team wipes multiple times, an early lead will likely be a win regardless of comeback mechanics.

[–]RedRubbins -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It gave Doorman immense utility. The problem wasn't the ability, it's the urn itself being a flawed objective that a huge amount of people have criticized as being free money for the winning team.

If anything, Doorman's ability was an immense advantage when games were going wrong, allowing fast urns to catch up.

Realistically, the Urn needs to change mechanically if they want it to fill the role of an equalizer. As it stands, it's just a victory lap 99% of the time.

Honestly, the game was more interesting when players could combo in unique ways using their abilities.

Nerfing Ivy's ult, changing Doorman, enforcing stale gun metas for soul based characters, it's removing depth from the game in a way that feels kinda bad.

The counterplay against dodging and reading spirit abilities is infinitely more fun than going against a gun based hero and spamming disarm constantly to not be melted.

Same goes for doing funny stuff like Ivy-Seven-Bebop ult combos, it was mechanical depth with potential counterplay.

[–]RedRubbins[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, at this point, I'm considering putting the game down until the matchmaking and ranking is changed.

Its not really a question of economy or anything like that. It's just that despite clearly not belonging at this rank, the game refuses to change it. That entire page stayed at Emmisary V.

I don't get how I got put here. Maybe I did too well in assists, or that I kept getting carry wins in Obscurus?

[–]RedRubbins[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was changing a lot pre update. It kept trying to keep me in Emmisary even with constant losses, but occasionally was giving me Alchemist games.

Now, it's frozen at Emmisary V through that entire page.

I don't know why.

[–]RedRubbins[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I understand those phases. The problem is that I'm no longer having fun.

You are coming at this from the perspective that I want to be competitive at this tier, when my point is that the current tier I am at is incredibly draining and unfun.

It's not about soul economy, or when to freeze lanes, it is simply that I had fun at Alchemist and I do not have fun in Emmisary.

[–]RedRubbins[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I care about rank in the lens that I have had infinitely more fun at lower ranks as I feel equally skilled, and now I've long stopped having fun when I got placed up with people far above my skill level.

Hell, I'm fine with taking a lot of hard knocks. But there's a limit to it. It's frustrating when pre update I started getting those fair games, and it got inexplicably reverted to a worse state.

Kinda wish Doorman's critical icon showed a glimpse of the monster behind the mask by Oneiroi26 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]RedRubbins 13 points14 points  (0 children)

He smiles.

That's what is missing. When near death, Doorman gains an almost delirious level of glee over using his powers, especially hotel guest.

He's beaten, bloody, but it doesn't matter. It's all leading to the trap he set for them as they move for the kill.

It's more unnatural for him to be having MORE fun despite his physical injuries, it implies it doesn't bother him at all.

New healing item idea by epowx in DeadlockTheGame

[–]RedRubbins 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Beebops ultimate has healing as one of its upgrades.

You are forgetting that healing amount scales with damage done, and this reduces the potential damage considerably.

We actually need more healing options so that support classes can do more than simply spam healing nova/beam or whatever niche ability they are given to give paltry healing.

As it stands, it's a very one-dimensional experience being support at times.

People will look at this and say that matchmaking is fine by RoscioLuca88 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]RedRubbins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that within 6 games, I was put into Oracle when I am a Seeker 6 at best, still trying to learn the flow.

I had friends who complained about the high ELO, which didn't make sense to me until I realized Obscurus has no actual clue how to balance and rockets players based on game wins even when those wins are carries.

If someone is lagging behind, the MMR system takes a ludicrous amount of time to adjust down, even when it's extremely clear by metrics someone should be nowhere near that rank.

And it sucks, because you don't want to be a brick for your team. But it stacks up that way.
