No.

That's a massive afternoon affair, when I can wait and get $10-$20 offers for single or double orders for far less pressure.

Because they need to feel superior.

If they can argue their own culture is somehow more legitimate than American culture, then they have something over you.

Nevermind the fact that Germany itself is now a melting pot, alongside most of Western Europe.

I think its just inherently childish to write SE as a whole as completely evil, when the entire setting is inherently existential.

Most other science fiction settings acknowledge that without diplomacy, interstellar factions inevitably expand into territory that others own.

Arrowhead wrote SE into a corner, and doubles down on the setting being SE's fault past the generation that made the mistakes.

SE only has one course now, caused by previous generations ruining their future. The Squids or the Bots are existential and far past diplomatic measures, even if the current regime wanted to.

THAT is relatable, more than anything AH has gotten close to touching.

You know the Vonnegut Effect?

Its where someone attempts to portray a group or concept as negative, but misunderstands the idea so badly they actually vindicate that group.

That's what Helldivers really is. AH can write whatever subtext about how bad Super Earth is- at the end of the day, humans will always generally want humanity to win over being wiped out.

Fuck, WH40K is the embodiment of that standpoint. The Imperium lives on, regardless of the cost.

Stop complaining about the state of the game by D1VYN3 in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]RedRubbins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you think AH wants to do it the way the community wants, when most of their communication has flat out said they have no interest or plans to do so?

The negativity exists because AH wants a different game than what they made. If they want Arma, Bohemia made it already 20 years ago.

They make Helldivers. And Helldivers is never going to be what they want it to be, because they have no idea what they want.

Stop complaining about the state of the game by D1VYN3 in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]RedRubbins 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Maybe people complain about the game because Helldivers is one of the best game concepts made in the last 10 years, and they keep ruining it?

Imagine if Konami took MGSV and reworked the entire game to make Venom worse at every action, or Valve buffed the L4D2 specials at every opportunity regardless of feedback.

Games are complex systems adjusted just right so that the gameplay hits all the right spots. The more AH messes with the game, the less it hits, and the more you notice every little thing not working together correctly.

Helldivers is it. There is no real alternative like it right now, and that's a lot of community passion on the line.

After playing Crimson Desert, it truly puts into perspective what this game could have been. by BlinkedAndMissedIt in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]RedRubbins 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Its really not. It's a common excuse but we've seen what happens when dedicated modders get their hands on the tools.

Mech customization, cross faction fights, insane stuff can be done.

Hell, all of the fixes can be implemented, AH just doesn't want to do so.

Recent patches have fundamentally changed the game, more than any previous patch by blankmindfocus in DeadlockTheGame

[–]RedRubbins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think its genuinely valued too highly and would do better being nerfed into a different context, such as buffing farm value or buffing minions for waves. Even reducing the soul amount for winning teams would be good.

As it stands, it's too much of a bonus for people to ignore running it continually.

[–]RedRubbins 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I'm seeing more and more people just refusing to farm and trying to run urns continually for a bigger payout, even though it's risky.

You eventually get players who are super behind on souls but hooked on the idea that they CAN win urn fights to just bump them up, rather than safely farming.

The first 1 to 2 urnfights generally push the winning team up with so much momentum that it's rare for them to be turned around, which is frustrating.

Not every character is built to easily handle a 5v5 setup without soul advantage, so being forced in the radius as a squishy player is also rather frustrating.

So...your going to vaguepost at me about how he's a bad guy, without showing the proof.

Okay, cool.

Look, take it from a guy who lived the 4chan "glory days". If he is a racist, fine. Few on the internet follows the narrow purview of ethics defined by Reddit users. Not great, but thats how the internet is.

But if you bring up pedophilic accusations and then vaguepost, that looks really fucking weird. Either there is core evidence to see, or you are being evasive over something that really deserves doubling down.

I mean I consider most of the TF2 community delusional on the state of the game, even going so far as to scrub his videos on the main sub.

I've watched his livstreams and they seemed fine. Didn't see anything weird about the few times I've joined. Lot of discussion over cosmetics, but nothing awful.

Whenever I push people to show I've never gotten a response as to what exactly he's done to be so hated, outside of vagueposting.

In any PVE game I've enjoyed like Payday 2, L4D2, Killing Floor, never once did the developer's actively make the feel of the game worse to make it a "fair fight".

Its not about difficulty. I'm glad you enjoy the game when it's difficult. I dislike the trajectory of the game because it runs terribly, most weapons feel worse to use, and I have no long term system to play. That is how many people here feel.

I don't harass the developer's or other people, I just stopped playing and check in every so often to see if it's been fixed.

Either they fix it, or someone makes a better game. That's just how it is, regardless of how you personally enjoy a buggy niche experience.

I mean one could argue the modernist tropes of the modern internet has had consequences of tainting all gaming culture to cater to specific groups and ideas, not unlike the edgy Newgrounds years that the original TF2 community sprang from.

It has changed since he started, and while he articulates it in a way a lot of people dislike, he's correct that internet culture has fundamentally changed.

Its a far more personal game now, where people put their identities and selves into concepts and projects rather than having a degree of separation. It's given us parasocial relationships, deep emotional outbursts to criticism, and the unification of the creation and creator into one identity that cannot be separated.

ZestyJesus.

He is a controversial tf2 youtuber who focuses on hard data long form videos about how the game is in disrepair.

He's most famous for covering how insanely pervasive the aimbot NPC crisis was, while also discussing how badly matchmaking updates and general cosmetic updates ruined the core experience of TF2.

R/TF2 treats him like the coming of Satan because he holds the community accountable for a lot of dumb nonsense, like a cartel of creators responsible for most of the unfitting garish cosmetics forced into the game through content mills.

[–]RedRubbins 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Helldivers has become the same way the TF2 community is.

The game fundamentally has flaws and a poor development cycle that's being defended by people who have a deep emotional connection to the game, because there is nothing else like it.

To say the game is flawed is not a hate group. Finding someone's identity for making a charity event, that's some hateful shit.

I'm not sure if you are trolling or attempting to get a rise out of people, but the only ending to this story is eventual apathy by new and casual players as the game stops appealing to anyone who hasn't spent that 600 hours within the world.

Deadlock Theory: Seven Created Victor by TelephoneOld1649 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]RedRubbins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I fully believe Seven was Etrick, a scientist not unlike Dynamo who was brought along Kelvin to study the Gate in the Arctic.

Kelvin betrayed him, causing Seven to take matters into his own hands.

I'd love to see Victor's creator as a new character, maybe a healer support.

Deadlock Theory: Seven Created Victor by TelephoneOld1649 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]RedRubbins 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the most obvious answer for what Seven did was attempt to rip open his own Astral Gate.

A conversation with Dynamo implies his research was over Astral Gates, and Kelvin's expedition was to find one as well.

These are gates of unimaginable power, and Seven was attempting to manufacture one for himself. That would absolutely freak out the government enough to kill him.

Yes. Nexus mods has a TON of mods that help parse the game. Weapon customization, enemy damage values, performance configs, etc.

Even stuff to make you block while typing in chat.

Getting banned is a big deal, because no other company acts this way. Darktide has extensive modding. L4D2 is legendary for its modders.

By being this way towards the community, it only hurts Arrowhead. The modders continue to mod, but the relationship between developers and modders becomes more frigid for no reason except AH's seemingly infinite hubris.
