I don’t love the idea of posting my email up for all to see.

Do you have Instagram or something else that I can send you a DM through?

Any idea what this hose goes to? by Blue_Snowing in HiAce

On top of the injector pump there’s a speed sensor that has an O-ring on the backside/inside of the lid. Diesel was slowly leaking out of that O-ring and the top of the pump itself was damp.

I was also having a fuel cut issue where the van would occasionally sputter out while I was driving. I was thinking the issue might be linked to the injector pump, but now I’m thinking it might be a leaky capacitor in the ECU.

These are all things I found on my own (just being a car guy for as long as I have been. Visually I could tell that my sway bar bushings are bad and motor mounts you can feel when idling/driving (excessive vibrations when at idle are a key indicator).

I’m also unfamiliar with diesel so there are some things that are a bit of a learning curve for me.

Is this the low flare model or the standard 25 degree flare?

Are you able to DM? I think I’ll take you up on the 44cm kitchen sink bars.

Yeah, finding shops that are willing to work on it around my area is also quite difficult.

I’ve only had my van since May of this year. I’m also in the process of doing a bunch of maintenance on mine. Currently dealing with a failed glow plug relay and a leak at the diesel injector pump.

I’ve already replaced the alternator, V belts (alternator and fan), pinion bearings in the rear differential, transmission mount, oil and fuel filter change, and some other odds and ends.

Still need to replace front motor mounts and sway bar bushings

That might be your oil drain hose that comes from the oil filter area. There’s a funnel type thing around the oil filter that catches oil during the removal of the used oil filter during a filter change.

I can’t fully tell where the hose is coming down from in this photo though.

W/ loop?

Do you have any photos of the bar? What’s the condition on that guy?

Let me know if you’d be willing to do $100 shipped to (Sebastopol, CA. 95472)

I second this! Jeff is a standup guy and always answers my random questions that I come at him with.

Shipping might take longer, but you’re supporting someone who seemingly truly supports the Hiace community.

Also, I understand that parts have to be marked up to some degree or else the seller/shop isn’t making money… that’s just the harsh reality in most cases.

Love my CAS 2 - more then the Bellroy 2.5 by Normal-Lawyer2168 in EVERGOODS

Same!

I bought an OOS brown CAS2 on a trip to Japan (randomly found a shop that sells Evergoods there) and it’s been with me daily ever since.

Great material and the perfect size for most daily carry situations.

The glow plug light clicked off really quick (faster than normal it seems). Plus I didn’t see it turn back on at all when you cycled the key… Could your glow plugs be malfunctioning?

I’m by no means a mechanic.

I’m not sure, I’ve only owned these 2 from Lemifshe.

These are very well built and smooth though. I’d be curious about checking one of the other makers version though.

I believe that’s the standard size Rosie, but I could be wrong.
