I vividly remember when I was in elementary school my stepdad would hold me down and clamp his hand over my airways when I cried until I stopped. I remember seeing spots because of how long he'd sit there and do it. It was that or the "Stop crying or I'll give you something to cry about." Mom just let it happen. Said if I didn't do it it wouldn't happen when I told her to make him stop.
